‘Take Nap’: Border Patrol Union Mocks Biden After Texas Visit

On Saturday, a union representing Border Patrol agents mocked President Joe Biden after he visited the U.S.-Mexico border on the same day as former President Donald Trump.

The National Border Patrol Council posted an image of Biden lounging on a beach along with a tongue-in-cheek description of what the president had planned for when he took Air Force One to a border town in Texas last week.

“Board AF1, take nap. Wake up in place called Brownsville. Read large teleprompter message, ‘It’s all Trump’s fault’. Board AF1, ask who people in green uniforms were, told they ‘strap’ illegal aliens, express horror, take nap. Wake up, call a lid, hit beach, take nap,” the post to X said.

The National Border Patrol Council, which represents around 18,000 Border Patrol agents and support personnel assigned to the U.S. Border Patrol, has endorsed Trump in the past. It has also been very critical of Biden and his administration over border security.

“Dear Joe, You OWN this catastrophic disaster at the border – lock, stock and barrel. You created it. You nursed it along. You encouraged it. You facilitated it. It’s all yours. Don’t run from it now like a coward. Signed, The BP agents you’ve thrown under the bus,” the union said in a post to X last month.

Biden traveled to Brownsville, Texas, on Thursday, where he visited a Border Patrol Station.

After receiving an operational briefing, Biden delivered remarks in which he said the Border Patrol, as well as immigration and enforcement and asylum officers, were “all doing incredible work under really tough conditions.”

Biden also delivered a message to Trump, who visited Eagle Pass, Texas, roughly 300 miles away on the same day and, like Biden, is running for a second term in the White House in this year’s election.

“Here’s what I would say to Mr. Trump: Instead of playing politics with the issue, instead of telling members of Congress to block this legislation, join me — or I’ll join you — in telling the Congress to pass this bipartisan border security bill. We can do it together,” Biden said.

“You know and I know it’s the toughest, most efficient, most effective border security bill this country has ever seen,” he added. “So, instead of playing politics with the issue, why don’t we just get together and get it done?”

The Senate immigration reform deal, which failed to pass out of the upper chamber amid broadsides by Trump, had been endorsed by the National Border Patrol Council.

“While not perfect, the Border Act of 2024 is a step in the right direction and is far better than the current status quo. This is why the National Border Patrol Council endorses this bill and hopes for its quick passage,” the union’s president, Brandon Judd, had said in a statement.
