If a 6-month-old baby undergoing heart and lung surgery wasn’t already scary enough, imagine that child also contracting the Coronavirus while in recovery from the surgeries.

Unfortunately, this scenario is exactly what Wayne and Emma Bates, parents of young Erin, were challenged with this month

Things were certainly not looking good for Erin and the Bates family at this point. But baby Erin hadn’t quit fighting. Just this past Friday, April 24, 2020, Emma shocked everyone when she shared this incredible news

Of course, that doesn’t mean her fight is over. Between medical expenses and still recovering from the surgeries, the Bates family still has a long-road ahead of them

Erin’s story has been shared by multiple sites around the world since Friday. Yet, the Bates family still hasn’t been able to meet their gofundme goal to cover medical expenses

But that’s what separates our community from the rest. Some of you may remember my article about a man named Chris Book who is fighting against cancer. At the end of Chris’ article, I threw a link to his gofundme page – not really knowing if many donations would come through.

What happened next was nothing short of incredible. Within 48 hours, y’all donated over $12,000 to Chris to help him out in his time of need. Because of the generosity of this community, Chris’ entire medical expenses were covered for the year, and then some.

All that being said, I know times are tough. Millions of us are struggling financially because of this piece-of-shit situation, and offering a donation is much harder now than it was back in February
