Jane Fonda Says There’d Be No ‘Climate Crisis’ If Not For ‘Racism’ And Twitter Has Thoughts

Jane Fonda claimed that there’d be no “climate crisis” if not for “racism” and Twitter users definitely had some thoughts, with many people blasting the actress for her comment.

During a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the 85-year-old actress was joined by her “80 for Brady” co-stars as she talked about what had motivated her to get involved in social activism.

“For me, it was learning about the Vietnam War,” Fonda shared. “And when I really understood what that was about, I couldn’t not do anything except try to join the movement to stop it.”

“Well, you know, you can take anything — sexism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, whatever, the war,” the actress added. “And if you really get into it, and study it and learn about it and the history of it and everything’s connected. There’d be no climate crisis if it wasn’t for racism.”

Headlines surfaced on Twitter on Thursday about her comments like, “‘Everything is Connected’: Jane Fonda Links Climate Crisis to Racism,” “Jane Fonda Tries To Link Climate Crisis To Racism,” with people blasting “Hanoi Jane” as a “disgrace” and more.

Fonda acquired the nickname “Hanoi Jane” in 1972 when she went to Hanoi, Vietnam, to decry the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, the New York Post noted.

“This Hanoi Jane freak has no clue. ‘Everything is connected’ Jane Fonda links climate crisis to racism,” Juanita Broaddrick tweeted.

“Jane Fonda is insane,” Brigitte Gabriel wrote.

Fox News host Dagen McDowell said, “Hanoi Jane is a disgrace to the United States of America! … We would not be talking about her today if she was not born into an acting family. And I don’t say that with humor; I say it with complete disdain and complete derision! Go away, Jane Fonda.”

“Hanoi Jane Fonda is whining about the weather from a climate-controlled building,” another person wrote. “She got there by flying on a plane, driving in a car, staying in an air-conditioned hotel, drinking plastic bottled water, and going through armed security. She doesn’t care about the climate.

Fox Business host David Asman tweeted, “It appears that Jane Fonda’s calling out John Kerry, Al Gore, and all the other jet-setting climate hypocrites for their ‘racism.'”

“Jane Fonda links ‘Climate Crisis’ to Racism. 50 years later and Hanoi Jane is still embarrassing herself,” another person tweeted.
