Knife-wielding man approaches concealed carrier in Chicago alley. The guy with the gun quickly ends the threat.

Once again, someone wielding a knife in a sketchy way likely didn't watch "The Untouchables" — or at least, didn't heed the warning from the Chicago cop played by the late Sean Connery about bringing knives to gunfights.

And this latest incident actually took place in the Windy City.

What happened?

Chicago police were called to the 1500 block of West Juneway Terrace around 10:43 p.m. Tuesday to handle a domestic incident — and one of the calls came from a concealed carrier who told police he heard a loud argument coming from his neighbor’s residence, police told CWB Chicago.

The police report said the CCW license holder went to his neighbor’s home where a woman was being confronted by her 19-year-old son, who appeared to be in the midst of a mental episode while holding a knife, the outlet added.

Police said the CCW license holder left the area, but the 19-year-old followed him with knife in hand and “continued to approach” the man who had checked what was going on at his neighbor's house, CWB Chicago said.

With that, the CCW license holder drew his gun in an alley and shot the 19-year-old once in the leg, the outlet said, citing the police report.

Taser still needed

When officers arrived on scene, they saw the 19-year-old walking down the street toward them — and still with a knife in his hand, CWB Chicago said, citing the police report.

So officers had to deploy a Taser to get the suspect under control, and then they placed him in custody, the station said.

Emergency medical services took the 19-year-old St. Francis Hospital, where it was determined that an injury to his leg — initially believed to be a self-inflicted cut — was actually a gunshot wound, CWB Chicago said, adding that the suspect was listed as being in good condition.

EMS also treated the 19-year-old’s mother for a minor injury to her hand, the outlet reported.

Detectives are investigating the incident, CWB Chicago noted.
