Spanish Guardia Civil arrests young man of Maghrebi origin who used Grindr to lure and assault gay men in Almería
Almería is in shock following the arrest of a 20-year-old man of Maghreb origin, accused of leading a gang that used the dating app Grindr to lure gay men and assault them physically and verbally in the town of Las Norias de Daza.
The District Court of El Ejido has ordered provisional detention, communicated and without bail, for Youssef D., identified as the ringleader of this criminal organization and with a prior record for violent crimes.
According to the court order obtained by this media outlet, the gang’s strategy began on the mobile phone. The accused created fake profiles using stolen photos to gain the trust of his victims.
Once a meeting was arranged, he would lead them to alleys and secluded areas where other gang members waited, hooded and wearing ski masks. There, the men were beaten, insulted, and humiliated in a pattern of deliberate and systematic violence that alarms authorities.
The Civil Guard and the National Police, responsible for the operation, confirmed that these assaults were not isolated incidents, but part of an organized plan. The modus operandi included selecting victims through the app, luring them with deceit, and then stealing money or belongings, in addition to inflicting physical and psychological harm. These types of crimes highlight citizens’ vulnerability in digital environments and the importance of a firm response from the justice system. The victims’ families have expressed their shock and fear, calling for increased surveillance and preventive measures in the community.
Security experts warn about the risks posed by troubled youth who combine access to technology, impunity, and a permissive social environment. Without intervention, such behaviors can multiply and severely affect public safety and social cohesion. The case also raises the need for strict and controlled immigration policies that ensure the integration of newcomers and prevent individuals with violent backgrounds or disregard for the law from entering. Mass and irregular migration generates obvious risks for the safety and tranquility of local communities, undermining trust in institutions and weakening legitimate authority.
Psychologists and violence specialists emphasize that the consequences of these assaults go beyond the physical. Victims often develop anxiety, chronic fear, and distrust toward digital environments and society in general.
Protecting individual freedom involves ensuring the safety of all citizens. The State must act firmly against those who violate the law and the integrity of others.
These events show how inaction in the face of organized violence, corruption, and lack of immigration control erodes social cohesion and endangers the values that sustain a free and safe community.
The left, by downplaying crime and prioritizing indiscriminate open-door policies, threatens stability, family, and the rule of law, weakening authority and fostering insecurity. Only a society that defends the law, individual responsibility, and traditional values can guarantee the freedom and protection of all.
