Days before German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is set to visit President Donald Trump in the White House Thursday, Germany’s leading political prisoner YouTuber Aron Pielka has unexpectecly been freed from prison for the crime of burning a Koran (The Gateway Pundit reported). Speaking on Sunday, Aron recounted his arrest and 9-month imprisonment, ending with an impassioned appeal for Free Speech and a patriotic renaissance in Germany.

Pielka, who goes by the mock-Jewish alias Shlomo Finkelstein to troll Nazis and antisemites, was arrested on August 13, 2024 by a SWAT team in front of his 1 1/2-year-old son for violating the provisions of his suspended sentence for crimes including critically using a picture of Nazi leader Goebbels, burning a Koran on video and playing the satirical song “What does the Black Say?” by Israeli-Americam comedian Rucka Rucka Ali.

On Tuesday afternoon, August 13, Aron went for a walk with his son, who had just turned 1, he recalled:

“At a bus stop, a causally-dressed German man with red hair and a red beard, wearing a green sweater, in civilian clothes, approached me. He spoke perfect German, but claimed to have trouble reading the bus schedule. He asked me verbatim, “Can you please explain the bus scheduling to me?” This sounded odd to me, but I leaned over the schedule anyway. Suddenly I was struck on the back of the neck. Someone rammed an elbow into my neck, one or two people snuck up from behind. My arms were wrenched behind my back. They tore the stroller away from me, which I was still pushing. From all corners, officers jumped out—some in civilian clothes, some armed SWAT  officers. One of the officers behind me whispered directly into my ear, “Don’t do anything stupid now. Think of the kid.”

They were already shouting “Police” and so on. It all happened so fast that, in the first moment, and given the civilian appearance of it all, I thought I was being mugged. I thought, okay, what do I do? Here’s my wallet, now get lost and give me my boy back,” Aron said. 

"While they moved the stroller with my son out of my sight, my field of vision was also effectively blocked. I was put in padded goggles, Guantanamo-style. They pushed me into an alley and stood me up against the wall to search me, rummaged through my pockets, my wallet, and then left me standing there for about ten minutes. I asked if we could inform my girlfriend and bring my son to her. They said they’d bring my son to her instead. I couldn’t say even goodbye."

Sitting in the police van, Aron recalled how pumped on adrenaline the officers seemed. He concluded they had been instructed he was some sort of dangerous right-wing extremist or terrorist, even though he weighs 150 lbs and is only 5'8".

He was taken to jail bent over forward in a perp walk, blindfolded and in an arm lock.

"At that point, I actually started laughing, involuntarily. I don't want to come across as some sort of tough guy—when they jumped me and tore my son away from me, I was shitting my pants. But at this point, when it was clear that this was the police—meaning they’re not going to slam my boy against a wall or anything—and then they start with these completely over-the-top measures, culminating in this ridiculous “perp walk", I just couldn’t help it and started to laugh. The officer hissed in my ear, “Easy now,” as if I were having a panic attack or something. I’m pretty sure he realized I was laughing, but wanted to maintain the upper hand. Interestingly, though, after that, he stopped his weird “perp walk” grip, pushing my head down to waist level. Maybe he started to feel silly himself," Aron said.

When he asked the officers what he was charged with, they focused on his use of an image of Nazi Propaganda MinisterJoseph Goebbels, which he had used critically and satrically, not literally. However, in their quest to jail right-wing critics, German courts and prosecutors have started treating any use of the swastika, not matter what the context, as Nazi propaganda.

"They were told I was some hardcore neo-Nazi"

"That's why the warden and the guards treated me like that in the beginning. They had been told that my crimes included using the swastika, so they thought I was some hardcore, 1488 neo-Nazi," Aron siad, even though he got his alias "Shlomo Finkelstein" from actual Nazis who were stalking and trolling him as an anonymous content creator and decided to own it.

(Many right-wing German YouTubers don't use their real names and faces, but aliases and avatars, due to frequent attacks by violent "anti"-fasicsts like the Leipzig "Hammer Gang" who would attack alleged "right-wingers" on the streets with hammers. Aron Pielka called himself "Shlomo", his channel "The Vulgar Analysis" due to his frequent use of obscenties in younger days, and used an image of Scottish pundit Samual Johnson as his avatar before he was doxxed by state-funded antifa site Belltower News and Spiegel Magazine beginning in 2019.)

"Every evening, I go out onto the street twice alone and smoke a cigarette. Completely alone. They must have observed this eight times before they decided to arrest me in front of my son’s eyes with a masked SWAT team and tear him away from me, blindfolding me Guantanamo-style," Aron said.

Aron was then shuttled from one prison to the next as if the authorities didn't know what to do with him. Since a large part of the German prison population is Muslim, an inmate known for burning the Koran could be in serious danger for his life, much as in Tommy Robinson's case. Aron had to come up with a cover story to explain to other inmates why he was in prison, saying he was arrested for driving without a license, and hope no one would become suspicious and google him.

In this time he spent 40 days with a hole in his molar because the prisons would not give him dental treament if they thought he was only there temporarily. Aron started writing a book in prison, which is almost finished now except for the last chapters and the story of his release.

Aron hat been assigned to a "deradicalization program" called Violence Prevention Network, but never got any appointments with them. A psychologist interrogated him in a very cookie-cutter fashion, trying to get him to say racist things about ethnic minorities, but Aron explained he was mostly worried about Germany losing its cultural identity.

Then the German political police (Verfassungsschutz) had come to see him on January 15, 2025 and wanted to recruit him as a confidential human source, but Aron refused to talk to him. Six days later, on January 21, 2025 he received new charges for alleged "hate speech" as if to increase the pressure on it. The Cologne Prosecutor Sinan Șengöz, who is a Turkish Muslim, who had made sure Aron went to prison for Free Speech crime, also made sure he would not be released early on a furlough program. Aron also related how a violent neo-Nazi inmate was introduced in his prison and attacked him several times in the stairwell, as if to increase the pressure on him.

"They tried to turn me into a snitch"

"I would give it a 75% chance he was a secret police plant, to make my life hell so I would be willing to cooperate," Aron said. "Just before my parole hearing, they opened a new investigation due to alleged Hate Speech, offering to cover all my costs, including the 10.000 Euros they are charging for my arrest. 'You can get out in 3 weeks, but you have to become our agent and spy on the AfD for us.' That was the plan, I would bet money on it, and since I refused to talk to them, that's what they did."

His parole hearing was on February 19, and the judge "blamed me for not wanting to be de-radicalized", Aron explained. "It was not enough to be peaceful and cooperative – I had to want to be reprogrammed." His parole was denied because it goes against "the security interest of the general public," Aron said. "That's when I got fed up."

After Vice-President J.D. Vance gave his historic pro-free speech talk at the Munich Security Conference, Aron made a voice recording via telephone and had friends on the outside post it as a video adressed to J.D. Vance (as Gateway Pundit reported). After that, his phone calls to the outside were limited. Aron could tell the authorities didn't know what to do with him, since they couldn't actually stop him from exercising his right to free speech.

"I wanted to present myself as a living example for what J.D. Vance criticized at the Munich Security Conference," Aron said. "Naomi Seibt was the perfect persond to publish it, because she has a big audience in the United States. After that, even though I violated no rules by making a voice recording, my phone contact to the outside was severely restricted and monitored."

"I had to push a red button on the phone, upon which a guard officer would come on the line and I had to ask him whether he had time to monitor my phone call. Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't. The memo said this was to 'prevent further contact with right-wing personalities, as this would endanger the goal of the prison sentence." His letters and visitors were also monitored after the J.D. Vance video, Aron said.
