Fetterman Milks Dress Code Brouhaha, Says He’ll Wear A Suit If House ‘Jagoffs’ Meet His Demands

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) made it clear on Wednesday that he would hold Congressional decorum hostage if he could leverage it to make political demands from the opposing party.

Fetterman, whose apparent inability to abide by the upper chamber’s longstanding dress code inspired Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to officially declare a “relaxation” of its enforcement, posted on X about what it would take to get him to wear a suit to work.

“If those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week,” he said.

“New Democratic strategy: more $ for Ukraine or won’t wear pants in the Senate!” attorney Robert Barnes replied to the post — and he was not alone in his assessment of the situation.

“He’s milking this to a cringe level now,” nationally syndicated radio host Dana Loesch added.

“The Democrat Party of 2023: a senator who refuses to wear pants while voting tries his best to jumpstart nuclear war,” Trump adviser Stephen Miller said.

“No one has been this proud of being a slob since a muppet lived in a trash can,” Washington Times columnist Tim Murtaugh added.

The Pennsylvania Senator’s point was driven home when he opted to preside over the chamber on Wednesday wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt.

Fetterman had previously attacked House Republicans during an MSNBC interview, telling host Chris Hayes that they should compromise on their demands for spending cuts in order to avoid the looming government shutdown.

“The House, the whatever they call themselves Team America or whatever they call themselves, I am just like – hey, I am just like, bring your vote, you know, otherwise they need to go hump a different leg,” he said, leaving Hayes momentarily stunned and apparently speechless.

“Um — the – you were in – uh — you drove your — I think it was a Ford …” Hayes stammered as he tried to get the conversation back on track.
