Social Media Mocks Canadian Male Parliament Members Parading Around In Hot Pink Heels

Male members of Canada’s Parliament were mocked after parading around in hot pink heels to show their support for women victims of domestic abuse.

The tippy-toe parade, titled “Hope in High Heels,” was part of an effort by Halton Women’s Place, which helps abused women and their dependent children, to raise awareness of domestic abuse.

Halton Women’s Place has written of Hope in High Heels, “This was originally created as an avenue for men and boys to show support for women experiencing domestic violence by wearing hot pink heels. Now, Hope in High Heels has evolved and grown to include EVERYONE, of all ages and ability levels!”

Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra celebrated the event on Twitter, writing, “Violence against women is still prevalent in our society. Hope in Heels is an event that spreads awareness on violence against women while encouraging men and boys to be part of the solution. We wore their signature pink heels in support to this important cause.”

Liberal MP Karina Gould brought Hope in High Heels to Canada’s Parliament in 2016. “The message is simple – we will not end violence against women and children if boys and men are not included in the conversation and part of the solution,” she said in the House of Commons at the time. “Having this event in Ottawa encourages all Members of Parliament, Senators, and their staff to show Canadians that we are united in this fight.”

This week, she added, “We welcomed @HaltonWomensPl to the Hill for the 4th annual Hope in High Heels on the Hill, to continue the conversation on systemic violence against women. Educating men and boys is part of the solution, and it is all of our responsibilities to end gender based violence.”

The Canadian male politicians were roundly mocked on social media.

“Again, Canada is not a real country,” political commentator Jack Posobiec reacted.

“Canadians were renowned for their fighting prowess in both world wars,” one critic noted. “They were lumberjacks, explorers, hunters, woodsmen, Mounties. Look what the likes of Alghabra and his Castroesque boss, Trudeau have turned Canadian manhood into — No hopers. Camp clowns.”

“Male politicians parading around in ‘signature’ pink high heels to be part of the violence against women solution,” another critic echoed. “I’m so embarrassed for you this actually made my scalp tingle.”

Last November, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, displaying his wokeness in a manner to which many critics took umbrage, appeared on a television show devoted to contestants competing to be the “next global drag superstar.”

Trudeau appeared in a trailer for the show “Canada’s Drag Race” which had an episode titled “Canada vs. The World” premiering November 18. The show featured a grand prize of $100,000 and the title of “Canada’s Next Drag Superstar.”

“We’re making herstory,” a picture from the show boasted as it showed a smiling Trudeau next to a drag queen.
