CNN Includes Photo Of Woman Getting An Abortion In 2022 ‘Year In Pictures’

 CNN included a photo of a woman getting an abortion in Birmingham, Alabama, in their yearly round-up of pictures from the year 2022, which was published December 5.

The photo depicts Dr. Shelly Tien, who travels across state lines to conduct abortion in states with restrictions on the practice, performing an abortion on the woman. 

“Dr. Shelly Tien performs an abortion in Birmingham, Alabama, while a nurse assists her with an ultrasound,” the photo’s caption reads. “Tien is one of an estimated 50 doctors who travel across state lines to provide abortions in areas that have limited abortion access.”

“Reuters photographer Evelyn Hockstein accompanied Tien and documented her life as she traveled to clinics in Alabama and Oklahoma.”

Other photos in the roundup focused on the issue of abortion. One picture from January depicted pro-life students at the annual March for Life. Another photo from May showed a group of pro-abortion protestors carrying a sign that read “My Body My Choice,” two weeks after the leak of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center.

CNN promoted an overseas abortion pill service in June of this year, holding a segment in which Elisa Wells, co-founder of Plan C, spoke with CNN host Poppy Harlow about the website. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent warning letters to similar sites in the past.
