READ IT: Elon Musk Mocks Twitter’s HR Bots After Getting ‘Management 101’ Note

Who’s going to tell the HR bots at Twitter that the new guy is not a mere middle manager?

Elon Musk, who closed out his $44 billion deal to take the social media platform private on Thursday, used the occasion to share auto-generated messages he got helpfully advising him how to be a better manager and inspire his team. The note came after the new boss sent the former CEO and a handful of other bigwigs packing his first day on the job.

“Hey Elon,” the message began. “It’s time to start Managing @Twitter (M101)!”

“M101 covers what it means to be a good manager at Twitter by showing you how to create opportunities for impact, help your Tweeps grow their careers, and demonstrate care for your team.”

The note tells the new owner he has just 30 days to complete M101, at which time he’ll be enrolled in Managing @Twitter 201.

Musk has reportedly told investors who helped him buy the platform that he intends to sack at least half and maybe as much as three-quarters of the Twitter workforce. In addition, he gave walking papers to CEO Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, General Counsel Sean Edgett, and legal and policy executive Vijaya Gadde, the woman who banned former President Donald Trump from the platform.

Musk, who runs SpaceX and Tesla among other enterprises, tweeted his bemusement at the management missive.

“Just received this email from Twitter,” Musk wrote early Sunday. “This is an actual, real email that was autogenerated.”

Musk’s tweet was accompanied by a pair of “rolling on the floor laughing” emojis.

Since Musk took over, reports of the cushy work conditions at Twitter have painted a picture of pampered and lazy employees who spend their days exercising, dining on free gourmet food, and even drinking wine on tap during business hours. Other employees were never even ordered to the company’s plush San Francisco offices after working from home due to the COVID pandemic.

Musk, who has joked that the company’s unused headquarters might as well be used to house the homeless, is known as a hard-driving boss. He seems as determined to change the work ethic of his new charges as he does the far-left, social justice orientation of their content moderation.
