J.K. Rowling slams celebrities for supporting trans charity despite its link to pedophilia advocate

British author J.K. Rowling denounced celebrities who backed a transgender charity linked to an individual supporting pedophilia.

She reserved strong words toward British transgender charity Mermaids, which was found to have employed a trustee who attended an event in support of pedophilia back in 2011. The aforementioned trustee, Jacob Breslow, even gave a speech at the event organized by the B4U-ACT organization, which promoted “understanding about people in our communities with an attraction to children or adolescents, and to support them living in truth and dignity.”

According to the Times of London, Breslow’s presentation during the event zoomed in on how societies view pedophiles. It also opted to use the “politically correct” term “minor-attracted persons” instead of the more accurate term.

The trustee promptly resigned from his position at Mermaids following the report. Breslow was only appointed as a Mermaids trustee in July. The charity denounced Breslow and B4U-ACT, saying that both are “completely at odds with [its] values.”

“Once notified, we took swift and decisive action to investigate,” Mermaids said. “We will be reviewing our processes and procedures in light of this event to make them even more robust. Safeguarding is of the utmost importance to Mermaids and the safety of the young people we support is our highest priority.”

“When you appoint a trustee to a children’s charity, you do due diligence. A simple Google search would have enabled Mermaids to read Breslow’s own words. Either [it] did literally no checking, or [it was] fine with his views,” Rowling pointed out.

The author best known for her “Harry Potter” books ultimately remarked that Mermaids’ blunder was “a catastrophic safeguarding failure.”

Despite having leftist political views, Rowling herself fell victim to the leftist woke mob. Her remarks about how transgenders are canceling biological women spurred intense backlash, including various organizations severing ties with the author and transgender activists doxxing and threatening her and her family.

Rowling: Woke celebs panicking after Mermaids fiasco

Describing itself as a “safe place for transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse young people,” Mermaids has drawn the support of various celebrities and public figures. These include Prince Harry, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the eight “Harry Potter” film adaptations. Mermaids also received funding from the British government and the National Lottery.

But following the expose about Breslow, the author took to social media to speak out her thoughts.

“I don’t doubt that there are some panicky phone calls being placed to [public relations] people by certain corporations and celebrities right now, but as they remain completely insulated from the severe harm they’ve enabled, my sympathy can be measured in gnats’ thimbles,” wrote Rowling.

According to the author, she did not believe that Mermaids would have been able to achieve its level of influence in British society were it not for the “money and public support of certain corporations and celebrities, who eagerly boosted them even though the red flags have been there for years.”

Rowling also mentioned that Mermaids had a large influence over the now-disgraced Tavistock Center in London. The gender reassignment clinic was ordered to close down over safety concerns.

Canadian YouTuber Liana Kerzner challenged Rowling over her criticism of Breslow, referencing the author’s opposition to cancel culture. She tweeted in reply to Rowling: “Would you want to get fired for views you held 10 years ago?”

The “Harry Potter” author responded in kind: “If I’d been arguing for the de-stigmatization of pedophilia 10 years ago, had never recanted those views and then wheedled my way onto the board of a charity for vulnerable kids, then damn right I should be fired.”
