Calling Biden: Number Of Arrests Of Illegal Immigrants Reaches Record One-Year-High

The situation at the southern border has deteriorated so badly during the Biden administration that for the first time, over two million immigration arrests were made in eleven months, reaching a new threshold.

Instead of blaming their own lax policies vis-à-vis immigration for the problem, Biden administration officials blamed governments in Latin America, The Washington Post reported.

“Failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba are driving a new wave of migration across the Western Hemisphere, including the recent increase in encounters at the southwest U.S. border,” Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus offered as an excuse. “Those fleeing repressive regimes pose significant challenges for processing and removal.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection detained 203,598 immigrants who entered the United States from Mexico in August; if that rate of immigration continues, over 2.3 million arrests would have been made between the end of September 2021 and September 2022, the Post surmised.

Biden administration officials cite the Trump administration’s implementation of the Title 42 emergency public health policy for some of the problem, claiming that repeated attempts by some immigrants to cross the border came after they had been sent back to Mexico after their first attempts.

Compared to the eight years of the Obama presidency, the Biden administration comes off poorly regarding immigration; in the 20 months since Biden was inaugurated, Border Patrol has made 3,484,327 apprehensions of illegal immigrants, while 3,384,816 apprehensions were made in the eight fiscal years of  Obama’s term, as The Washington Examiner noted.

A September New York Times/Siena poll found that more respondents agreed with the Republican party on illegal immigration than the Democratic party, by a margin of 51%-37%.

“We’ve never seen anything like this before … the millions of people coming into our country and the women and children going through the abuse that they’re going through,” Texas GOP Rep. Mayra Flores stated.

“It’s really been a perfect storm,” echoed Ken Oliver of the Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Right on Immigration program in Washington. “There are no real breaks right now. The flow is only getting worse in terms of the numbers of countries involved.”

One border agent simply admitted, “We’re apprehending people left and right.”

Some immigrants were informed by smugglers that Biden’s immigration policies were softer regarding immigrants, an idea that was propounded on WhatsApp chats and Facebook posts, thus catalyzing more immigrants to attempt to cross the border into the U.S
