Facebook slaps down The Babylon Bee, claims that a post from the satire site 'goes against our Community Standards on hate speech'

Facebook has declared that a post by the satire site The Babylon Bee ran afoul of standards regarding hate speech.

The popular satire site had shared an article mocking the idea that Amy Schneider, a biological man who identifies as a transgender woman, broke the record for winning the most money of any woman in the history of "Jeopardy!"

Facebook slapped down the satire site for posting the piece titled, "Trans Woman Breaks Jeopardy Record, Proving Once And For All That Men Are Smarter Than Women."

"Your post goes against our Community Standards on hate speech," Facebook declared, according to a screenshot posted by Babylon Bee Managing Editor Joel Berry. "No one else can see your post. We have these standards because we want discussions on Facebook to be respectful. Repeatedly violating our Community Standards can cause further account restrictions. If you think we've made a mistake you can disagree with the decision."

Berry tweeted, "Pretty proud of this. It's not often we manage to get transphobia and misogyny into one headline."

The Babylon Bee's CEO Seth Dillon said that the site will appeal, according to Not the Bee.

During Schneider's impressive winning streak on the gameshow, Larissa Kelly, who had previously held the record as the woman with the highest overall "Jeopardy!" earnings, congratulated Schneider for breaking that record.

"Well, it was fun to hold a Jeopardy record for a few years...but it's been even more fun to watch @Jeopardamy set new standards for excellence, on the show and off. Congratulations to Amy on becoming the woman with the highest overall earnings in the show's history!" Kelly tweeted.

Schneider replied, "Thanks so much, I’m honored to be in your company, and I look forward to some day watching the woman who beats us both!"
