Squad member Rashida Tlaib faces hypocrisy storm dancing maskless at indoor wedding in 'substantial' transmission area despite scolding Senator Rand Paul for telling people to 'resist' COVID guidelines

'Squad' congresswoman Rashida Tlaib faces hypocrisy allegations after dancing unmasked at an indoor wedding in an area with 'substantial' COVID transmission.

The Democrat Representative was photographed and videoed  unmasked, among a large crowd at a wedding on Sunday Wayne County, Michigan, where virus transmission is so high the CDC has recommended wearing masks indoors.

Tlaib was caught out the same day she slammed Republican Senator Rand Paul for telling his followers to resist mask mandates and other forthcoming protocols from the CDC.

And she hit the dancefloor a day after former Democratic President Barack Obama held a scaled down 60th birthday party at his Martha's Vineyard compound after being blasted for setting a bad example with a 500-person guest list.

The footage was taken at a wedding in Wayne County, Michigan, by Bassam Saleh, a band from Dearborn, Michigan that was performing at the affair. Clips show Tlaib dancing among a cramped group of wedding guests, holding hands and hugging members of the crowd.

Bassam Saleh's Instagram features dozens of clips from the wedding and tags its location as Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, a venue in Dearborn, Michigan.

It is not clear what Tlaib's relationship is to the wedding party or how many in the crowd are vaccinated.

The same day as the wedding, Tlaib took to Twitter to voice her disdain with Republican Senator Rand Paul, who published a video urging his supporters to ignore the CDC's guidance on preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

Paul says in the video, 'It's time for us to resist. They can't arrest all of us . . . We don't have to accept the mandates, lockdowns and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and bureaucrats. We can simply say no, not again.'

'No one should follow the CDC's anti-science mask mandates,' he continues, adding that he will aim to cut funding to every school that requires mask mandates or hybrid learning.

Tlaib shared the video on Twitter with a map from the Kentucky Department of Health, which shows a high incidence rate of Covid-19 in almost every county in the state.

The representative, who has previously been photographed wearing two face masks at once, captioned the tweet: 'The KY Senator is throwing a tantrum as his state is being swallowed whole by this virus, again. People are getting sick and dying 98 counties in Kentucky have a high incidence rate of COVID-19. He needs to put politics aside, and put people first. Start resisting the virus.'

But Tlaib did not seem to practice what she preached as her state is hit hard by the coronavirus again. Michigan saw a spike in cases over the past few weeks, recording a seven-day average that jumped to 1,061 cases on Sunday as compared to 672 cases on August 1 and 415 cases the week before, according to data published in the New York Times.

In the same period, deaths have stagnated at a seven-day average of five to six. In total, there are now 913,220 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 19,958 total deaths in Michigan. About 64percent of residents 16 and older have received at least one dose of a vaccine.

Starting Wednesday, masks will be required for anyone entering a building on a University of Michigan campus, , regardless of vaccination status, according to the Detroit Free Press. University officials announced the rule Monday and it applies to the Dearborn, Ann Arbor and Flint campuses.

'I know that we've already become accustomed to not wearing a mask if vaccinated, but we want everyone in our community to be as safe as possible, especially as the highly infectious delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 continues to spread,' said University President Mark Schlissel in a news release. ''Breakthrough infections' can occur in vaccinated persons, but while they rarely lead to serious consequences, they can spread to others.'

Last month, a music festival in Michigan was deemed a super spreader event that caused officials to worry about the return of mass live events.

The Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Michigan, a three-day country music festival that took place from July 16 to 18, was tied to 96 Covid-19 cases in the state.

The event, which did not require attendees to be vaccinated, has had and at least one case resulting in a hospitalization.
