Trump supporter says he'll go to JAIL before he takes down giant 50ft x 30ft 2020 flag he is flying 150ft from a crane in Buffalo

A defiant Trump supporter is refusing to take down a huge 2020 flag, which violates city rules, and even said he is prepared to go to jail.

Jay Johnson, from Minnesota, is flying a 50ft by 30ft Trump 2020 flag over his construction business.

The custom-made $1,000 flag has caused huge controversy in Buffalo and even led to his work vehicles being shot.

The city has received 100 formal comments about the flag with locals divided on whether it should stay.

The flag is flying from a crane 150ft over the construction site and a city ordinance claims it needs to be licensed.

Johnson told CBS Minnesota: 'It looks small because it's 150ft in the air, but it's a pretty big flag.'

A city official said it is still deciding how to proceed with enforcement but Johnson said he is prepared to fight.

If he is ordered to take it down, Johnson said he will put it up elsewhere and maybe even buy a bigger flag.

He initially took it down after Trump's election loss but decided to put it up again last month.

Within hours, windows of his construction vehicles were shot with BB guns, which police are investigating.

At the same time, a Trump merchandise shop in another part of the city was also shot.

Johnson said: 'I'm willing to forgive the people that did it. They just got to come forward and admit it. I put a reward out.'

The flag cost $1,000 and the crane cost $50,000, and the business owner said he is prepared to face any punishment the city hand him.

He said: 'I am prepared to get the fines, ultimately get cuffed, go to jail, whatever.'

Neighbors are divided over the flag with some describing it as 'weird' while others saying they would prefer a US flag.

Buffalo is about 40 miles west of Minneapolis.
