 An 18-year-old Ohio man was arrested after pulling out an AK-47 rifle on the platform of New York's Time Square Subway station. 

Saadiq Teague, 18, was charged with several counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and one count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia after being found with an unloaded semi-automatic gun, ammunition and a gas mask. 

Police performing an inspection on Friday of the subway's A/C/E line at 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal Station spotted the suspect Friday afternoon as he was charging his cellphone with his unloaded rifle sticking out of his backpack on the ground.  

Police also found ammunition and a gas mask in his back pack, NBC 4 reported.

Officers approached the man and questioned his intentions and the suspect claimed that he had a permit for the weapon from Ohio. 

The 18-year-old was arrested without incident, with police yet to name him. The suspect is currently being interviewed at a nearby police station at Columbus Circle.

The FBI has been made aware of the incident, but its agents have yet to get involved in the investigation.
