Jared and Ivanka sign one-year lease on oceanfront condo in Miami where a penthouse recently sold for $33M - as they build permanent home on 'Billionaire Bunker' island

Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner are leaving Washington behind for sunnier skies and following her father to Florida.

The former senior presidential advisers have signed a one-year lease on a condominium in one of Miami's most coveted oceanfront buildings, Arte Surfside, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing a source familiar with the deal.

It's unclear how much Ivanka and Jared will be paying for the condo, but it's safe to say it didn't come cheap. Arte is one of the most expensive complexes in the Surfside neighborhood, with an average rental price of nearly $47,000 per month. Its penthouse sold for $33million to an unnamed private equity executive from New York last month.

The couple and their three children are said to be using the large, unfurnished unit as a temporary home while they build a more permanent one on a two-acre plot they purchased on Indian Creek Island  - also known as the 'Billionaire Bunker' - for $31.8million late last year.

WSJ suggested it's no coincidence that Ivanka and Jared picked the Arte building, because one of its developers - Alex Sapir - has links to outgoing President Donald Trump.

Sapir is head of the Sapir Organization, which teamed up with the Trump Organization to build the Trump Soho condo-hotel in New York City in 2008.

Arte Surfside, a dazzling pyramid-shaped complex overlooking the Atlantic, was designed by Italian architect Antonio Citterio in 2019.

The 12-story building boasts 16 units, ranging in size from 3,150 to 7,550 square feet with between three and five bedrooms. It's unclear what size unit Ivanka and Jared will be settling into.

The units are outfitted with Roman travertine ceilings, European white oak floors, Poliform cabinetry, Italian marble countertops, Gaggenau appliances and expansive terraces wrapping around the perimeter. They also each have private temperature controlled parking spots and direct elevator entry with digital fingerprint recognition.

The building's amenities are equally impressive, featuring a private rooftop tennis court, 75-foot heated indoor lap pool, sauna and steam room, meditation pond, fitness center, residents' lounge, catering kitchen and children's playroom.

It also has 24-hour security, but the WSJ source said Ivanka and Jared plan to bring in their own personal security detail as well.

Ivanka  confirmed she and Jared are departing Washington DC in a farewell message posted to Twitter on Tuesday - her father's last full day in office.

Donald Trump's eldest daughter said she would be 'leaving DC in awe of the compassion, grace and grit that exists across this nation'.

She also expressed support for incoming President Joe Biden, wishing him, his wife Jill, vice president Kamala Harris and her husband Doug 'wisdom, courage and strength'.

'It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve our nation as an Advisor to the President,' Ivanka wrote. 'I am so proud of what we have accomplished and excited for the future. I hope and believe America can move forward in a positive way, acknowledge our differences and find common ground.'

The outgoing president and his family were expected to Wednesday at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Several massive moving trucks arrived at the site on Monday morning, a sign that the president will permanently relocate to the Palm Beach estate after leaving office this week.

The rest of the Trump clan are also looking to relocate. Newly engaged Tiffany is thought to be contemplating a move to the Sunshine State, as is the president's eldest son Don Jr and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Ivanka and Jared are expected to put down permanent roots at their new slice of Indian Creek Island, an exclusive Florida neighborhood that touts beautiful waterfront homes and tons of privacy.

The island off the coast of Miami got the nickname 'Billionaire Bunker' because of the high-profile residents that have settled onto the island, including model Adriana Lima and billionaire businessman Carl Icahn of New York City.

Indian Creek Village holds the reputation as 'the world's most exclusive municipality.' The island has only 34 homes, around 42 residents and its own private 13-person police force.

Each home on Indian Creek is built around the perimeter of the island to ensure that all residents have a waterfront view, while the middle is occupied with the luxurious Indian Creek Country Club and a 18-hole golf course.

Ivanka and Jared reportedly bought Lot 4 on the island, which previously belonged to singer Julio Iglesias, to build their new home. A listing for the plot of land measures it at 1.84 acres with 200 feet of private waterfront. Taxes are reportedly $427,000 a year.

Jared's brother, Joshua Kushner, and his model wife Karlie Kloss - who are expecting their first child - have also bought a home in Florida.

Don Jr was thought to eyeing up two properties in Admirals Cove, according to The Palm Beach Post. Guilfoyle reportedly purchased one of the properties for $9.5million.

But Peter Moore, general manager of the property owners association, told the paper 30 residents have already expressed concern, adding: 'About half have concerns about safety. The others have political concerns with what's happened in the last couple of weeks.'

Tiffany used her father's final day as President to announce that she is engaged to her billionaire partner Michael Boulos, while sharing an image of them celebrating their happy news together at the White House.

The 27-year-old first daughter shared the news in a gushing social media post on Tuesday, posting a smiling picture of herself and 23-year-old Michael posing outside the West Wing.

In her post, the Georgetown Law graduate described the engagement as her most 'special' White House memory, while paying tribute to her 'amazing fiancé', whom she has been dating for just over two years.
