Not such a smooth transition: MSNBC's national security reporter says 'oh s***t, f***' on air after getting into technical difficulties while discussing how Trump will hand over power to Biden

A national security reporter was heard dropping the F-bomb during a segment of MSNBC Live Tuesday morning.

NBC's Ken Dilanian appeared on the show with anchor Craig Melvin when things got a little weird.

Melvin and Dilanian were getting ready to discuss the Trump administration's transition with Joe Biden's team and how it relates to the intelligence community when the mistake occurred.

The anchor was introducing Dilanian when the reporter looked down and said: 'Oh sh*t. F**k.'

A very awkward six seconds of silence went by before Melvin, whose facial expression was priceless, says: 'Okay. Think we lost Ken for a second.'

Some folks who were watching the show at the time immediately headed over to Twitter to laugh about it.

'Best thing I've seen all day and it's not even noon yet. #HotMic,' one person tweeted.

'Us all. #Sh*tF**k,' another person wrote.

'Ken Dilanian just said "s**t" and "f**k" on live TV as he appeared to lose his feed... YIKES,' one person said.

Another shared: 'Anybody else just see that on @MSNBC — yikes. Hot mic catches @KenDilanianNBC getting passed to for breaking news says “oh sh*t... f#ck!"'

It was initially unclear what caused Dilanian's expletives, but he later revealed in a tweet that he was having technical issues.

'So sorry for the profanity I used on air last hour. I was experiencing some technical difficulties and mistakenly hung up on the control room, though my mic still was on,' Dilanian tweeted.

'Perils of playing producer, cameraman and tech support all at the same time from home. #2020,' the reporter added.

'Please do not apologize. You made us all feel like our thoughts were valid. We are all thinking what you said,' one Twitter user responded to Dilanian's apology.

Another said: 'No apologies needed. I instantly started following you afterwards.'

Dilanian even got Ava DuVernay's attention who tweeted a GIF brushing off the whole thing.
