'They're still together. They want to stay together,' Pryor's defense attorney Stephen Colafella told TribLive.com. 'This has been such an ordeal for both of them, and somehow they've managed to persevere through it.

'I think they realized what could have been lost through all this. They seem to be in a good place,' Colafella said.

As Rothman argued in court, Briston was defending herself when she stabbed Pryor.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, a female witness claimed Pryor started the fight after waiting for Briston to return home after clubbing with friends.

In December, Pryor claimed he 'stared death in the eye' in the hospital. 'Life Crazy man,' Pryor wrote in a social media post after being discharged from a Pittsburgh-area ICU. 'Was coded twice before I came back alive. Stared death in the eye in same place my son was born. God is good!! Just got out ICU for 4 days.' The post, which was republished by TMZ, featured a picture of bare-chested Pryor sporting bandages over two areas of his torso

Briston previously spent 30 days in jail before getting out on bond. He told TribLive.com that his client would have gone to trial, but that would be risky and could cost her financially.

'We had a very viable self defense,' Rothman said.

Briston had previously worked in a hospital and had no prior record, according to TribLive.com.

Prior was a standout at Jeannette High School outside Pittsburgh before going on to play for the Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills.
