The First Daughter was joined by Pastor Paula White, leader of the White House's Faith and Opportunity Initiative.
Prior to gathering produce from the various stands and loading up boxes, the pair took part in a meeting with community leaders.
Through the program, the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has partnered with national, regional and local distributors, whose workforces have been significantly impacted by the closure of restaurants, hotels and other food service businesses, to purchase up to $3 billion in produce from American producers of all sizes.

In round one of the project from USDA, 34.5 million boxes were purchased under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act as part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program announced by Secretary Perdue in April and executed from mid-May until the end of June.
The purchases totaled $1.2 billion.
This second round began July 1 and will see 6.9 million boxes go out over the course of two months.
Those purchased totaled $1.47 billion.
