Two brothers aged six and seven are killed after stealing their grandmother's car and crashing it off an embankment into a creek bed

Two brothers from Missouri have died after taking off in their grandmother's car and being involved in an accident.
The crash happened in rural Jackson County around 5pm.
The children, just six- and seven-years-old, took the keys to the car and went for a joyride in their grandma's vehicle.
The elder brother is believed to have been at the wheel when the accident occurred.

Sgt. Andy Bell from Missouri State Highway Patrol said the boys left home in the car, drove through a field and then onto a county road.
The seven-year-old driver ended up losing control of the car, sending it over the edge of an embankment, down into the bed of a creek and the vehicle set on fire.
Investigators say the car was heading east on East Blue Mills Road near Kansas City when it came off the right side of the road, hit the ground and became airborne, according to KMBC
The Highway Patrol believe the car, a 2007 Buick Lacross, hit a guardrail and then slammed into the ground before it went airborne for a second time.
An investigation is underway to establish how the children were able to get their hands on the keys to the car and drive off

The car hit a guy wire and overturned before it set alight.
Both children were killed in the accident and were pronounced dead at the scene about 4:20pm on Friday. Neither child had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The names of the youngsters who died have not yet been made public.
