Special Prosecutor On Trump Case Bought Flights For DA Fani Willis To Accompany Him On Multiple Trips: Court Filing

Special prosecutor Nathan Wade paid for Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis to accompany him on at least two trips in 2022 and 2023 after Willis had already hired him to oversee her RICO case against former President Donald Trump, court filings show.

Wade’s estranged wife, Joycelyn, submitted a court filing on Friday in the couple’s ongoing divorce case which included credit card statements. The statements showed that Wade had purchased plane tickets for himself and Willis to travel to San Francisco and Miami over the past year and a half, according to the filing, NBC News reported

The court filing comes after Michael Roman, a co-defendant in the Trump case, alleged that Willis and Wade “engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers.”

Willis was subpoenaed last week in the Wades’ divorce case, requesting her to testify. In a court filing on Thursday, the district attorney accused Joycelyn Wade of trying to “harass” her and “damage her professional reputation,” alleging that Joycelyn Wade is “obstructing and interfering with an ongoing criminal prosecution.”

Joycelyn Wade’s attorneys responded to Willis’ filing on Friday, writing, “Contrary to Ms. Willis’s belief, the Defendant is not utilizing the deposition to harass her but rather to seek pertinent information from her husband’s paramour regarding her relationship with Plaintiff and the extent of the Plaintiff’s financial involvement in the same.”

Trump responded to news of the court filings, saying Willis and Wade “have been exposed.”

“The Hoax has to be Totally and Completely DISMISSED,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Friday, referring to the Georgia RICO case against him. “And the Lovebirds should face appropriate consequences. I, and many other Good Citizens of our Nation, are owed damages for the Dishonest Turmoil and Fraud we have been forced to endure.”

Earlier this week, Willis told the congregation at Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta, Georgia, that she’s being targeted because of her race.

They only attacked one,” Willis told the congregation on Sunday, during a speech that lasted some 30 minutes. “First thing they say, ‘Oh, she’s gonna play the race card now.’ But no God, isn’t it them that’s playing the race card when they only question one.”

“Isn’t it them playing the race card when they constantly think I need someone from some other jurisdiction in some other state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing almost 30 years,” she continued, referring to the two prosecutors assigned to the case concerning her alleged misconduct, Fox News reported.

Wade has reportedly received more than $650,000 since January of 2022 from the Willis’ office.  The DA is also accused of misleading county officials in seeking extra funds to pay Wade, and in what could be a state violation, allegedly never sought the county’s approval to hire him, as is required by Georgia law.

On Thursday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ordereda hearing on allegations against Willis and Wade. McAfee said Willis must respond in writing to the allegations by February 2, and he scheduled a hearing on the accusations on February 15, according to the Washington Post.
