'I'll keep fighting for a country that allows fools like you to have two apartments and a Tesla': Lauren Boebert hits back at AOC for mocking her 'conservative values'

Lauren Boebert got personal on Sunday when she brought Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's grandmother into a Twitter war of words as the two bickered over government assistance.

The back-and-forth started when AOC sarcastically taunted Boebert over her 'Good ol conservative values' when in her Conservative Political Action Conference speech on Saturday she told federal government to 'leave us the hell alone.'

'Ask Abuela how that government reliance is going,' Boebert wrote on Twitter Sunday, referencing a tweet last month where Ocasio-Cortez shared images of her grandmother's dilapidated home in Puerto Rico – still in ruins from the 2017 hurricane season.

'Nobody is taking safety nets away,' Boebert assured.

'Growing up in a Democrat household, I stood in line for bread and government cheese. I want more for your grandma, just as I did for me,' she continued. 'Don't limit the American dream.'

AOC responded in anger after Boebert brought her grandmother into the conversation: 'Thank you for proving to the world that today's version of 'conservative role model' is a person who mocks other people's ill grandparents on the internet.'

'I can promise you I will treat your family better than you do mine. And I'll fight for your constituents more, too,' she tweeted along with an emoji of a waving hand.

Boebert, however, blamed progressive Democrats from blocking aid for Puerto Rico. The Republican congresswoman is likely referencing a 2019 bill that would have sent $600 million in nutritional assistance for Puerto Rico, but Democrats blocked that, claiming it wasn't enough.

'I'm not the one who blocked your abuela from receiving over $100k. That was all you,' Boebert accused. 'If that's how you take care of your family, I can see why they'd rely on the government.'

Ocasio-Cortez received a slew of criticism when she posted in June a Twitter thread sharing images and stories of the conditions in which her Puerto Rican grandmother was living.

'Just over a week ago, my abuela fell ill. I went to Puerto Rico to see her- my 1st time in a year+ bc of COVID,' Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter early last month.

'This is her home,' she continued, posting two pictures of mostly-empty rooms where the ceiling is falling in and plastic buckets on the ground are collecting dropping water.

Also in the images are one chair, one dresser and a tarp on the ground.

'Hurricane María relief hasn't arrived. Trump blocked relief $ for PR. People are being forced to flee ancestral homes, & developers are taking them,' the New York congresswoman wrote.

Critics were quick to jump on the post questioning why the progressive congresswoman, who makes $174,000, isn't sending money to help her grandmother.

'I'll keep fighting for our great country that allows fools like you to have two apartments & a Tesla,' Boebert added in her tweet.

AOC has an apartment in New York City, her hometown and district she represents in Congress, and one just under a mile from the Capitol in Washington D.C., where she works.

The progressive lawmaker also has a white Tesla, which was infamously pictured earlier this year illegally parked at the neighborhood Whole Foods just below her D.C. apartment.

Conservative Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene decided to weigh in on the back-and-forth between AOC and Boebert, tweeted on Sunday: 'And now @AOC is back in therapy saying how she feels threatened by truth.'

Ocasio-Cortez initially lashed out at Lauren Boebert on Saturday as she accused Republicans of wanting to 'strip' Americans' of their unemployment benefits and get rid of 'public safety nets.'

The progressive representative's comments came in response to a video of Boebert at CPAC on Saturday saying: 'We're here to tell government, 'We don't want your benefits. We don't want your welfare. Don't come knocking on my door with your Fauci Ouchi.''

'You leave us the hell alone,' Boebert, the mother of four who represents Colorado 's 4th district, told a cheering crowd in Dallas, Texas .

AOC responded with: 'Tell 'em loud and proud girl!'

'GOP will strip your unemployment protections and dismantle any semblance of a public safety net we have left!' she tweeted. 'Then make working people pay way more for everything on low wages while Wall St gets a meal ticket!'

'Good ol conservative values baby!' she sarcastically quipped.

Boebert, in her CPAC speech, pushed for smaller federal government.

She also referenced the 'Fauci Ouchie,' which has become a nickname for the coronavirus vaccine mixed with the president's top COVID-19 adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.

President Joe Biden announced a new initiative that would 'target' unvaccinated Americans in a door-to-door campaign where neighbors, canvassers and government affiliates would encourage hesitant people to get the jab.

Republicans have excoriated the president on this door knocking plan, claiming it is a way for the federal government to keep tabs on Americans' personal medical decisions – like not getting the coronavirus vaccine.

Boebert is also pushing back against Biden's massive welfare initiatives, including stimulus and relief from the American Rescue Plan and the president's proposed American Families Plan, which includes a slew of tax-payer-funded welfare and social programs.

Boosted unemployment benefits, which last through September, have increased jobless benefits by $300 per week, meaning any American who made $32,000 or less in 2019, could earn more in unemployment benefits in 2021.

Some social programs Biden is proposing in his so-called 'human infrastructure' bill are free community college for all Americans, universal pre-kindergarten and child tax credits for low and middle income families.

Ocasio-Cortez, one of the most progressive members of Congress, is pushing for these initiatives to pass and demanding more climate change provisions are included in sweeping bills.

Boebert, on the other hand, is pushing for a smaller government and less intervention from Washington.

Former President Donald Trump will speak at the CPAC gathering on Sunday afternoon.
