Capitol rioter who told cop she 'wanted to lynch Nancy Pelosi' quotes the Bible in court saying the law doesn't apply to her because she is a 'sovereign citizen' and has 'divine empowerment'

A Pennsylvania woman who stormed the Capitol on January 6 and allegedly threatened to lynch House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has claimed in court that she has immunity from the law thanks to 'divine empowerment'.

Pauline Bauer could be heard shouting on body camera footage shouting at a police officer 'bring Nancy Pelosi out here now… we want to hang that f***ing b****'.

'You bring them out or we're coming in,' she is alleged to have said, according to a transcript of a police body camera. 'Bring them out now. They're criminals. They need to hang.'

During a court hearing in June, Bauer told a judge: 'I am here by special divine appearance, a living soul. I do not stand under the law. Under Genesis 1, God gave man dominion over the law.'

The pizzeria owner, who could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of obstruction, has been representing herself during online court hearings from an FBI facility in Pittsburgh, a strategy that legal experts described as 'inadvisable'.

Bauer has threatened a court clerk with prison time, and also declared herself a 'self-governed individual' with special legal privileges, according to the The Daily Beast.

Last week, Bauer filed court documents that she claimed freed her from government control.

Sovereign citizens often claim to exist outside the jurisdiction of US law which they describe as 'illegitimate'.

In one new filing the offered up a document that 'serves as Proof that my living DNA existed on this Land before there was a UNITED STATES of America or Any STATE Thereof.'

The document was a family tree and showed what Bauer claimed to be ancestors who were born in Virginia and Pennsylvania before 1776.

Wearing a gray sweatshirt with the words 'Old school patriot' screen-printed on the front alongside a graphic of a coiled snake, Bauer was contentious with the federal judge overseeing the initial appearance, repeating her desire to represent herself instead of answering his questions about whether she had had any legal training or education in the law.

Prosecutors have alleged Bauer tried organizing buses to transport people to D.C. for a rally that was held before the riot.

'Day trip to Washington DC on January 6, 2021 for the mega million rally. Need 51 people to fill a bus,' read a post from her restaurant's Facebook page.

It's alleged that while she was in the Capitol rotunda she told police that she wanted to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Bauer's criminal complaint includes numerous screenshots from video footage taken inside and outside the building. Most show the suspect walking among crowds of people through hallways, holding up cellphones.

A witness told authorities that Bauer's husband recently revealed that his wife had entered the Capitol building but said she had not been violent, according to the complaint.

The witness said Bauer's increasingly political rhetoric over the past year had been driving business away from the restaurant Bauer runs with her husband.

After the attack, Bauer is alleged to have boasted about the attack.

'I am at the capital and was inside. No [sic] of us are armed just p***** that this is what we have to do to take our country back from communism,' she is alleged to have written.

Later she then tried to downplay any involvement.

'Do you really think anyone could break into the capital,' she allegedly wrote on Facebook. 'The antagonists were let in. We all got maced trying to stop what was happening. They used us for a movie so you could watch it on the news.'

Bauer is due to appear in court later this month but she could face a contempt of court charge if she continues to pursue her 'sovereign citizen legal hoaxes' route with judges penalizing those who deliberately appear to be dragging out court proceedings.

'Their filings and documents, to the layperson, have the look and feel of being actual legal filings, but they're actually flights of fancy, magical thinking,' Mark Pitcavage from the Anti-Defamation League's Center on Extremism told the Beast.

'As a result, all their arguments fail. Some judges will take the time to address them issue by issue. Some will more abruptly or harshly dismiss them as gobbledegook.'

Bauer hair had been dyed a lighter color than it appeared in pictures submitted as evidence in the charging documents.
