Top Democrat Weighs Trying To Delay Sale Of Weapons To Israel, Republican Warns ‘Hamas Caucus’ Trying To Get Democrats To ‘Abandon Israel’

House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Gregory Meeks (D-NY) is reportedly considering sending a letter to Democrat President Joe Biden seeking to get him to delay the sale of $735 million in precision weapons to Israel as Israel is engaged in fighting off Palestinian terrorists.

“Democrats on the committee met earlier today to discuss the ongoing violence in Israel and Gaza, and one of the members raised a Washington Post report that broke the story on Biden’s advancing of the weapons sale at the beginning of the month,” The Times of Israel reported. “The report stated that the White House notified Congress on May 5 of the sale — five days before the Gaza flareup — but several members voiced during the meeting that they had been unaware of the announcement.”

The report said that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has routinely made anti-Semitic statements and has been vocally supportive of the Palestinian cause, was one of the people on the Committee who supported blocking the sale. Omar wrote on Twitter: “Congress must intervene and stop the sale of these weapons.”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who is also a supporter of the Palestinians and has made anti-Semitic comments but is not on the Committee, wrote on Twitter: “No more weapons to kill children and families @JoeBiden . Enough.”

Not all Democrats on the Committee support the far-left-wing of the Democrat Party and their attacks on Israel.

“Another night of rocket attacks by terrorists aiming to kill innocent civilians,” Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) wrote on Twitter. “Hamas terrorists condemned by Congress for using human shields. Hamas is a foreign terrorist organization. Shockingly, some condemn Israel rather than the terrorists. Not me. I stand with Israel.”

On Twitter, some Republicans called out the far-left “squad,” which is comprised of Democrat Reps. Omar, Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), and Ayanna Pressley (MA), over the report.

“Democrats, once again, are planning to abandon Israel – while she’s being attacked,” Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) wrote. “Too bad there’s not a ‘Hamas Caucus.’ Oh wait – there is one – it’s called ‘The Squad.'”

Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) took a slightly more cautious approach in branding the far-left lawmakers, writing: “If there were a Hamas caucus in the House, this would be its top priority.”

Palestinian terrorists have fired more than 3,100 rockets at Israel over the last several days with approximately 450 of the rockets falling inside Gaza. The IDF has responded by knocking out miles of underground terror tunnels, killing hundreds of terrorists, and eliminating multiple high-ranking terrorist leaders.
