'Memes have replaced morality': Bari Weiss rails against AOC, the Hadid sisters and Dua Lipa after they all 'attacked Israel' for defending itself against a 'genocidal terrorist organization'

Bari Weiss has railed against against so-called 'progressive darlings' for attacking Israel for defending itself against a 'genocidal terrorist organization'.

The former New York Times columnist used her blog to denounce the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Hadid sisters and Dua Lipa for their comments in support of Palestine.

Weiss writes: 'When it comes to Israel, memes have replaced morality.

'It appears that standing up for the right of innocent people to protect themselves from a genocidal terrorist organization has become extremely risky to one’s “brand.”

'And so lies have replaced truth. Memes have replaced morality. Hashtags have replaced history.'

Weiss' post on Wednesday comes amid escalating tensions in the region, with Israel on Thursday saying it was massing troops along the Gaza frontier and calling up 9,000 reservists ahead of a possible ground invasion of the Hamas-ruled territory.

She blasted 'The Narrative' which she argues 'holds that all Hamas’s violence is the justified reaction to the original sin of Israel’s existence'.

Israel and Hamas have fought three wars since the Islamic militant group seized power in Gaza from rival Palestinian forces in 2007.

Weiss adds: 'The big-picture reason this is happening — and has been happening for decades — is that Hamas and Islamic Jihad are genocidal terrorist organizations that want to wipe Israel...off the map.

'The goal here is the eradication of the Jewish people. That is the bone-chilling truth. That is the core obstacle to peace. Anyone who insists that the ongoing rocket barrage is about a particular Israeli government policy must be made to answer for this.'

Supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid on Wednesday sparked a firestorm over an Instagram post that said Israel was not a country, but rather a land settled by colonizers.

Bella, who has nearly 42 million followers on the platform, published the series of cartoons Wednesday that called Israel 'occupiers' and called Palestinians 'oppressed.'

Her sister Gigi then liked the post, amplifying the cartoons that critics say were riddled with historic inaccuracies and anti-Semitic tropes to her 66.2 million followers.

Their father Mohamed Hadid, 72, is a Palestinian born in Nazareth in November 1948, four months after his city was captured by Israeli forces. The family fled to Syria, and ultimately to Washington DC. He has Jordanian and American citizenship.

Dua Lipa - who is dating Anwar Hadid - shared the #SaveSheikhJarrah hashtag. That's in reference to the Jerusalem neighborhood where Palestinians are facing eviction.

Israel on Thursday said it was massing troops along the Gaza frontier and calling up 9,000 reservists ahead of a possible ground invasion of the Hamas-ruled territory.

The four-day burst of violence has pushed Israel into uncharted territory — dealing with the most intense fighting it has ever had with Hamas while simultaneously coping with the worst Jewish-Arab violence inside Israel in decades.

The fighting broke out late Monday when Hamas, claiming to be the defender of Jerusalem, fired a barrage of long-range rockets toward the city in response to what it said were Israeli provocations. Israel quickly responded with a series of airstrikes.

Since then, Israel has attacked hundreds of targets in Gaza.

Gaza militants have fired nearly 2,000 rockets into Israel, bringing life in the southern part of the country to a standstill.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said the death toll has climbed to 109 Palestinians, including 28 children and 15 women, with 621 people wounded.

The Hamas and Islamic Jihad militant groups have confirmed 20 deaths in their ranks, though Israel says that number is much higher. Seven people have been killed in Israel, including a 6-year-old boy.

Israel has come under heavy international criticism for civilian casualties in Gaza fighting. It says Hamas is responsible for endangering civilians by hiding and launching rockets from civilian areas.
