'We're not sworn enemies': Republican Rep. Liz Cheney defends her fist bump with Biden after Don Jr. accused the 'warmonger' of being a secret Democrat

Republican Rep. Liz Cheney has responded to critics in her own party who criticized her for giving President Joe Biden a fist bump as he walked down the aisle of the House chamber before his first address to Congress.

'I disagree strongly w/@JoeBiden policies, but when the President reaches out to greet me in the chamber of the US House of Representatives, I will always respond in a civil, respectful & dignified way,' she tweeted Thursday night.

'We’re different political parties. We’re not sworn enemies. We’re Americans,' she added.

Donald Trump Jr. picked up on the gesture and tweeted a picture of it, calling her a 'warmonger' and asking why she was still in Republican leadership. Cheney voted to impeach President Donald Trump earlier this year over his role in the January 6 MAGA riot

Donald Trump Jr. lead the fury against the embattled Cheney who has been facing increasing pressure in her own party.

'"Republican" warmonger Liz Cheney gives Sleepy Joe a fist bump after he delivered a radical socialist vision for the future of America. So glad she’s in the GOP leadership, I guess they wanted to be more inclusive and put Democrats in there too?!?' he said.

She spoke out against Donald Trump after the Capitol, voted to impeach him and has been threatened with a primary challenge in Wyoming from the MAGA wing of the party.

Mitch McConnell also greeted Cheney with a handshake before Biden's address on Wednesday that Republicans have said was 'boring' and a list of 'socialist dreams'.

On Wednesday, president Trump tore into Cheney and said she would 'embarrass' her family by running for president.

He has also called her 'crazy' and has demanded she be voted out when she comes up for reelection in 2022.

'Liz Cheney is polling sooo low in Wyoming, and has sooo little support, even from the Wyoming Republican Party, that she is looking for a way out of her Congressional race. Based on all polling, there is no way she can win,' Trump said.

'She'll either be yet another lobbyist or maybe embarrass her family by running for President, in order to save face. This warmongering fool wants to stay in the Middle East and Afghanistan for another 19 years, but doesn’t consider the big picture,' Trump said. 'Russia and China!' he wrote.

His 'warmonger' attack was an attempt to identify her with her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and connect her to the decision to invade Iraq during the George W. Bush administration.

Cheney is floating a run for president herself. 'I’m not ruling anything in or out — ever is a long time,' she said on Wednesday.
