GOP Rep. Nancy Mace reveals she flew her kids out of DC ahead of Capitol riot after 'someone threatened to shoot her' as she hits out at AOC AGAIN saying her account is 'not true' and her 'exaggerating' 'waters down everyone's trauma'

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace has revealed she flew her children out of Washington DC ahead of the Capitol riot - as she hit out at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez again for 'exaggerating' events which she felt 'watered down' other's trauma.

The freshman Republican congresswoman told Fox News' Sean Hannity Thursday night she sent her children home from the Capitol days before the attack after 'someone threatened to shoot her' amid escalating tensions in the run-up to the certification of the electoral college votes.

Mace also launched a fresh attack on AOC dismissing her account of the riot as 'not true' and doubling down on her claims that the mob 'didn't get anywhere near us'.  The representative said 'we have to separate fact from fiction' when recounting what happened during the January 6 insurrection that left five - including a Capitol cop - dead.

Her comments came after the two lawmakers traded blows on Twitter Thursday when Mace said the Cannon Building where AOC was hiding from the mob was never breached by the rioters.

AOC has spoken out to say she feared for her life during the MAGA mob riot and posted a video on social media Monday night where she described hiding in the bathroom of her office when a cop entered shouting 'where is she?'

Mace tweeted Thursday that she is 'two doors down from AOC and no insurrectionists stormed our hallway' sparking a Twitter feud where AOC blasted her 'deeply cynical and disgusting attack.'

Mace told Hannity she sent her children home from DC two days before the Capitol riot on January 6 because of the growing signs of potential violence in the days leading up to it.

'I sent my children home. I'm a single working mom with two kids in middle school,' she said.

The South Carolina congresswoman said she had received a threat that someone - a Republican - was planning to shoot her so put her kids on a flight out of the capital.

'I flew them up for my swearing in. I was excited to have them there that week but a Republican threatened to shoot me on social media in the days leading up to the events of January 6 so I sent my kids home early,' she said.

'I got them on the the first flight home Monday morning [January 4] because I was worried.'

Mace said the warning signs of potential unrest were clear in the days leading up to the certification of the electoral college votes for Joe Biden.

'If I was worried without having a lot to go on other than the rhetoric I was seeing on social media and online and coming out of different voices online, you know, I would hope that our law enforcement monitoring the situation might have better information,' she told Hannity.

Mace, who was sworn in on January 3, described the MAGA mob riot as 'a very traumatic and harrowing day' and said it was something 'you would never want to go through.'

But she doubled down on her criticism of AOC demanding she 'be truthful' about her experience and saying when she is 'dishonest' about it, it undermines 'everyone's trauma'.

'You would never want to go through what we went through and I'm not going to discount those feelings at all,' she said.

'This was a very traumatic and harrowing day. It was a dark day in our nation's history but we have to be truthful when we share our stories and experiences because we want everyone to understand what we went through and believe us when we talk about it.'

She added: 'But when you exaggerate it and are dishonest about how you represent what actually happened, it waters down everyone's trauma and experience.'

Mace slammed AOC's account of what happened as 'not true' reinforcing her previous comments on Twitter that the rioters did not reach the building they were in.

'They didn't get anywhere near us in the Cannon Office buildings,' she told Hannity, adding that it was a seven to 10 minute walk between that building and the Capitol which the rioters had overran.

'It's a seven to 10 minute walk. If you walk fast, you could probably get there in five or 6 minutes. But it is a hike,' she said.

She added: 'The facts are there was no violent mob in the hallways. The folks who were there to riot weren't in the Cannon Office building.

'And so we have to be very clear and not exaggerate this experience or take advantage of it and politicize it in any way, shape, or form.'

The offices of Mace and AOC are both in the Cannon building which is 0.3 miles from the Capitol and is connected by tunnels underground.

It was not breached but it was evacuated by SWAT teams.

AOC has never claimed she was in the Capitol Building when the riot took place and tweeted Thursday that 'none of us knew in the moment what areas were compromised.'

Mace told Hannity there were just 'two threats' to lawmakers that day, pointing to the pipe bombs left at the DNC and RNC headquarters.

'There were two threats - one at the Democratic headquarters and one at the Republican headquarters,' she said.

'There were two pipe bombs discovered there that day.'

She went on to describe a 'traumatic' moment that she was 'stuck under the tunnels' and could hear the rioters around.

'I remember at one point I was stuck in the tunnels under the Capitol and I read two weeks ago that there were rioters that knew that people were stuck in the tunnel under the Capitol at one point during the riot and they were trying to find a way to get down there and find us,' she recalled.

'And I remember during all of this I was standing right next to Congressman Dan Crenshaw thinking 'if anything happens, I'm going to be safe because I have this military war hero who I admire and respect. He's going to save everybody in that tunnel'.

'This was a traumatic experience and it is not okay to exaggerate or politicize it,' she said.

Mace mocked AOC saying she 'literally lost it on her favorite social media platform, Twitter' and said she knows she is 'doing the right thing... when I've got members of the Squad coming after me all day long on Twitter.'

Her appearance on Fox came soon after AOC spoke on the House floor Thursday night during a special order hour she had organized for lawmakers to share their experiences about January 6.

'Sadly, less than 29 days later, with little to no accountability for the bloodshed and trauma of the 6th, some are already demanding that we move on,' she said.

'Or worse, attempting to minimize, discredit or belittle the accounts of survivors.'

A Twitter war broke out between the two lawmakers Thursday when Mace tweeted: 'I'm two doors down from AOC and no insurrectionists stormed our hallway'.

AOC fired back calling her comments 'a deeply cynical & disgusting attack' and linking to an interview Mace gave where she said they had all been scared.

'As the Capitol complex was stormed and people were being killed, none of us knew in the moment what areas were compromised. You previously told reporters yourself that you barricaded in your office, afraid you’d be hurt.'

'This was what you were saying just a few weeks ago,' she tweeted.

'Now you’re contradicting your own account to attack me for Fox News clicks.

'It’s honestly pretty sad to see you turn around like this and throw other people under the bus. Thought you’d be better,' she went on.

Mace responded saying she 'deals in facts'.

'*FACT CHECK* I have not once discounted your fear.

'We were ALL terrified that day. I’m stating the fact that insurrectionists were never in our hallway... because they weren’t. I deal in facts. Unlike you, apparently,' she said.

AOC then accused Mace of 'minimizing' her 'terror' and that of everyone else who was in the Capitol complex that day as well as that of survivors of other traumatic experiences.

'Wild that Nancy Mace is discrediting herself less than 1 mo in office w/ such dishonest attacks. She *went on record* saying she barricaded in fear. Who else’s experiences will you minimize? Capitol Police in Longworth? Custodial workers who cleaned up shards of glass?' she wrote.

'All I can think of w/ folks like her dishonestly claiming that survivors are exaggerating are the stories of veterans and survivors in my community who deny themselves care they need & deserve bc they internalize voices like hers saying what they went through 'wasn’t bad enough.'

AOC posted a 90-minute video Monday describing her interaction with a Capitol cop who arrived unannounced in her office when she was hiding behind her bathroom door.

'I see this white man in a black beanie... he yells "where is she?!"  I have never been quieter in my life...This man is a Capitol Police officer.

'But the story doesn't end there... there was no partner, there was no yelling "Capitol Police."

'It didn't feel right. He was looking at me with a tremendous amount of anger and hostility and things weren't adding up,' she said.

The cop told them to run across the street to the Longworth House Office Building, she said.

'We can hear, the buildings were not secure yet, that we can like hear all of these rioters behind the glass of the door.

'I hear the hinges cracking... you can hear all of this screaming.

'The yells only get louder and louder... so we run to this member's office start knocking on the door.

'I realized I had passed by Katie Porter's office.

'I saw Katie going into her office just like holding a cup of coffee because all of these developments were happening so quickly... some people were at different urgency levels,' she said.

Porter corroborated her story and said she consoled her while AOC opened closet doors and told her how she wanted to live to become a mother.

'I just hope I get to be a mom. I hope I don't die today,' Porter recounted Ocasio-Cortez as having told her.

AOC, in her video, then went on to slam the people telling her to apologize to Ted Cruz for claiming he tried to have her murdered.

'The reason I'm getting emotional in this moment is because these folks who tell us to move on, that it's not a big deal, that we should forget what's happened, or even telling us to apologize, these are the same tactics of abusers.

'I'm a survivor of sexual assault, I haven't told many people that in my life.

'As a survivor, I struggle with the idea of being believed.'

She gave no details about the assault or when it took place.
