Pamela Anderson calls on Trump to pardon Wikileaks founder Julian Assange by posting a BIKINI photo on Twitter to get his attention

Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson has called on President Trump to pardon Wikileaks founder Julian Assange by posting a photo of herself in a bikini on Twitter to get his attention.

The ex-Playboy model, 53, published a photo of herself in a white bikini holding a sign saying 'Bring Julian Assange Home Australia' as well as a clothed photo with a sign that read: 'I am Julian Assange', on Monday afternoon.

Anderson was rumored to have dated the now 49-year-old Assange, an Australian national, when he was living at London's Ecuadorian Embassy from 2012-2019, to avoid a rape allegation charge in Sweden, as well as espionage charges in the US.

It is the latest Twitter attempt to squeeze a pardon out of the outgoing president before January, after Stella Morris, Assange's girlfriend and mother of their two sons, issued a plea to Trump on Thanksgiving, after he pardoned ex-national security advisor Michael Flynn.

Including a picture of her and Mr Assange's two children conceived during his time in the embassy, she tweeted: 'These are Julian's sons Max and Gabriel. They need their father. Our family needs to be whole again. I beg you, please bring him home for Christmas.'

Assange, who has been in Belmarsh high-security prison in London, in the UK, for 19 months, fighting extradition to the US, is wanted over the publication of classified documents in 2010 and 2011.

He is said to have plotted with defense analyst Chelsea Manning to crack an encrypted password on US Department of Defence computers.

If convicted, he faces a possible penalty of 175 years in jail.

Anderson and Assange's unlikely 'special relationship' started when they were introduced by fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, sparking speculation over the nature of their friendship over the years.

Arriving to see Julian Assange in 2017: The 49-year-old Baywatch actress and model was said to be dating the Wikileaks founder while he was stuck inside the embassy in Knightsbridge

She was photographed visiting him multiple times during his seven-year stint at the Ecuadorian Embassy, bringing him vegan cheeseburgers as well as publishing messages about him on her blog claiming he was just 'trying to help' and should not be 'illegally detained'.'

In a poem in 2017, she wrote: 'My relationship with Julian - it's no secret. He is one of my favorite people and he might be the most famous, most politicized refugee of our time.'

After his arrest in April 2019 the mother of two visited him in Belmarsh prison and said in a statement afterwards that she 'loved' him.

She added that the WikiLeaks founder has been 'cut off from everybody', including his children, and does not have access to any information.

'He does not deserve to be in a super max prison. He has never committed a violent act, he's an innocent person', she said.

She added: 'He's a good man, he's an incredible person, I love him and I can't imagine what he's been going through,' Anderson said.

She previously called him 'world's most innocent man' and posted a photo of a handwritten message on Twitter signed by herself and British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood.

Assange was born in Townsville in the Australian state of Queensland in 1971.

He set up Wikileaks, which publishes confidential documents and images, in 2006, making headlines around the world in April 2010 when it released footage showing US soldiers shooting dead 18 civilians from a helicopter in Iraq.

But later that year he was detained in the UK - and later bailed - after Sweden issued an international arrest warrant over allegations of sexual assault in 2010.

After spending almost seven years inside the embassy claiming political asylum, Assange was arrested by British police on 11 April 2019.

It came after Ecuadorean President Lenín Moreno tweeted that his country had taken 'a sovereign decision' to withdraw his asylum status.

The Wikileaks founder had always argued that he could not leave the embassy because he feared being extradited to the US and put on trial for releasing secret US documents.

In April 2020 it emerged that Assange had fathered two children while living inside the Ecuadorean embassy.

Stella Morris, a South African-born lawyer, said she had been in a relationship with the Wikileaks founder since 2015 and was raising their two young sons on her own.

Currently jailed in London's Belmarsh Prison, Assange's legal fight against extradition to the US continues.

During one extradition hearing in September 2020, a psychiatrist said Assange complained of hearing imaginary voices and music.
