Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton-approved designer Gabriela Hearst is announced new creative director of luxury French fashion house Chloé
An eco-friendly designer loved by Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle has been announced the new creative director of luxury brand Chloé.
Gabriela Hearst, originally from Uruguay, whose New-York based label turned five earlier this year, is set to take over the reigns at French fashion house.
The designer is known for her green credentials, with her first runway show for autumn/winter 2017 produced to have as low as an environmental impact as possible.
Both the Duchess of Sussex, 39, and the Duchess of Cambridge, 38, have stepped out in gowns by the sustainable brand in the last few years.

Earlier this summer, Kate opted to wear a blue midi dress designed by Hearst as she joined Prince William, 38, and their children Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, to meet with Sir David Attenborough at Kensington Palace.
Meanwhile Meghan often wore the American designer during her time in the royal family.
Most notably, she carried a small green clutch by Gabriella during her final official royal appearance at the Commonwealth Service in March of this year.
She also donned one of the designer's stunning black midi length satin gowns during her tour of Australia and New Zealand in October 2018.

The Duchess went on to wear the designer throughout her pregnancy with son Archie, carrying bags from the South American while visiting Birkenhead and West Sussex.
The designer focuses on sustainability with her designs, sourcing deadstock materials and opting for eco-friendly fabrics like linen, as well as choosing to use recycled yarns whenever she can.

Gabriela will continue to design her own line and will split her time between New York and Paris for the role, with her first Chloé collection set to be unveiled in March.

She previously revealed she felt 'honoured' that Meghan was such a fan of her designs.
Speaking to Vogue, the New-York based designer said: 'What did I do to deserve that kind of karma?
'To have these women who are such good role models carry your bags is a huge honour… but, because we have such limited quantities we can’t really maximise on it apart from brand awareness.'
