‘Telling’: Molllie Hemingway and Carrie Severino report that Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s father was ‘glad Brett was confirmed’

Last week, footage of Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyer Debra Katz all but admitting that Ford’s crusade against Brett Kavanaugh was rooted in concern that Roe v. Wade would be overturned even further undermined Ford’s already dubious credibility.
Now comes this scoop from The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway and Carrie Severino:
More from The Federalist:
Ralph Blasey, Ford’s father, went out of his way to offer to Ed Kavanaugh his support of Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, according to multiple people familiar with the conversation that took place at Burning Tree Club in Bethesda, Maryland. “I’m glad Brett was confirmed,” Ralph Blasey told Ed Kavanaugh, shaking his hand. Blasey added that the ordeal had been tough for both families.
The encounter immediately caused a stir at the close-knit private golf club as staff and members shared the news. The conversation between the two men echoed a letter that Blasey had previously sent to the elder Kavanaugh. Neither man returned requests for comment about the exchanges.
Blasey never explicitly addressed the credibility of his daughter’s allegations, but he presumably wouldn’t have supported the nomination of a man he believed tried to rape his daughter.
Now, it’s important to emphasize that the fact that Ford’s father supported Brett Kavanaugh is not in and of itself evidence of Ford’s dishonesty. But it seems fair to say that this doesn’t do her any favors, either.
I’d heard this OTR about her family during the confirmation fight, but could not report it at the time. Telling.

We heard so much from people who were terrified that they would be harmed by the media if they went public. It was frustrating as writers, even if we understood their terror. Even something like this -- which was widely known but never reported until now.

So we now know why her parents were suspiciously silent during the whole ordeal.

Hard to believe her father would support the man if he believed his daughter or had any inkling any part of her claims may be true. https://twitter.com/seanmdav/status/1172184639986970624
