Breaking: Kirsten Gillibrand ends her presidential campaign with this one tweet

Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York ended her presidential campaign by sending a tweet via her account on Wednesday. 

"Today, I am ending my campaign for president," said Gillibrand in her tweet.

I am so proud of this team and all we've accomplished. But I think it’s important to know how you can best serve.

To our supporters: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Now, let's go beat Donald Trump and win back the Senate. pic.twitter.com/xM5NGfgFGT

"I am so proud of this team and all we've accomplished. But I think it's important to know how you can best serve," he added. 

"To our supporters: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart," he added. "Now, let's go beat Donald Trump and win back the Senate."

Gillibrand had signaled that she was mulling over ending her campaign when she announced that she would be willing to run on a ballot as a vice presidential candidate.

She did not qualify for the third series of Democratic debates in September, which likely hastened her decision to end the campaign.

Other 2020 candidates praised Gillibrand as she exited the campaign, including Beto O'Rourke and Andrew Yang.

Gillibrand had many critics in the Democratic party after she called out former Senator Al Franken over sexual harassment allegations that eventually led to his resignation.
