Muslim Who’s Fed Up with Leftist Extremists Crushes Member of ‘the Squad’ Demanding Muslims Agree with Her

This is one Muslim voice Rep. Ayanna Pressley doesn’t want to hear.
The Massachusetts Democrat delivered a speech at the weekend’s Netroots Nation convention in Philadelphia that all but declared she could speak for Muslims (and other groups) everywhere.
And Imam Mohammad Tawhidi wasn’t buying it.
Pressley — a charter member of “the squad” of progressive Democrats that also includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan – framed her presumptuous declaration as a progressive call to arms.
“I don’t want to bring a chair to an old table. This is the time to shake the table. This is the time to redefine that table. Because if you’re going to come to this table, all of you who have aspirations of running for office,” she said Saturday.
“If you’re not prepared to come to that table and represent that voice, don’t come, because we don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice.”
“We don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice,” she said. “We don’t need Muslims that don’t want to be a Muslim voice. We don’t need queers that don’t want to be a queer voice. If you’re worried about being marginalized and stereotyped, please don’t even show up, because we need you to represent that voice.”
The rank racism is risible. To Pressley, clearly, there’s only one acceptable “voice” for those who are “black” and “brown.”
The closed mind is almost painful — anyone who espouses the Islamic faith must have a political point of view that matches what Pressley determines it should be.
And as to sexuality, anyone who is “queer” is obligated to lean left politically too.
But Tawhidi, who goes by the moniker “Imam of Peace,” had a thing or two to say about it. Especially considering Pressley is not even Muslim.
“My name is Mohammad Tawhidi and I am a practicing Muslim,” he wrote in a tweet Sunday addressed to Pressley. ”I come from a lineage of scholars and Imams that goes back to the *close companions* of Prophet Mohammad. My question is: Who the hell are you to say which Muslim has the right to speak?”
Hi @AyannaPressley

My name is Mohammad and I am a practicing Muslim. I come from a lineage of scholars and Imams that goes back to the *close companions* of Prophet Mohammad. My question is: Who the hell are you to say which Muslim has the right to speak?

It’s not the first time Tawhidi has publicly questioned what too many people — on the left and the right — consider to be conventional thinking for Muslims.
In a May interview with CBN, he gave his own prescription for lowering the temperature on Islamic extremism: changing the Muslim world, one Muslim and one Muslim community at a time.
He's a Muslim warning about an 'Islamist war against Jesus'- now Mohammad Tawhidi @Imamofpeace is fighting radical Islam to build peace with Christians and Jews. http://tinyurl.com/y2z9ro6r

But his challenge to Pressley was as direct as it was forceful. It was an excellent question — and one that members of every other group Democrats claim to represent with monolithic progressivism ought to be asking.
There are more than 2 billion Muslims in the world, according to World Population Review. Is Ayanna Pressley seriously American leftists represent all of them? (Considering there’s a virulent strain of Islam out there that throws gays off rooftops, it’s pretty clear that’s not the case.)
It’s ludicrous — and an excellent example of why so much of the American public is getting tired of “the squad” and all they stand for.
Tawhidi had plenty of responses that certainly were directed at Pressley in particular:
Ultimately, we are talking of the death of individuality. In her mind, you are nothing more than the race/creed/sex you come from. Who decides what each identity group is supposed to believe is another good point, sir. She is attributing value solely on your assigned group.

That last tweet hits it right on the head.
Taken to its extreme, which progressives like Pressley are preaching, this kind of thinking means the end of individual thought and liberty — the very essence of the ideals the country was founded on.
One needn’t be a Muslim, or black, or “queer” to take offense at that.
It only takes being American to hear Pressley’s words and, to paraphrase Tawhidi, roar back with:

“Who do you think you are?”
