McConnell Releases Damning Footage of Dem After She Announces Bid for His Senate Seat

There’s a reason why Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell is a legislative legend.
He is tough as nails and doesn’t play games.
Yet McConnell keeps his calm and maintains an excellent sense of humor while he’s kicking some leftist butt. And his Tuesday morning video illustrates perfectly all of those things.
First, a little background: McConnell is the Senate majority leader and, until Tuesday morning, remained unchallenged for his 2020 Senate seat. His new Democratic challenger, Amy McGrath, lost her 2018 bid for state representative.
McGrath sees McConnell as the epitome of the evils of modern politics. “Everything that’s wrong with Washington had to start somewhere—it started with him,” McGrath tweeted Tuesday.

Maybe McGrath, like a typical leftist, is furious at McConnell for his helping President Donald Trump — or maybe she’s still upset at McConnell for not responding to her teenage letter more than two decades ago. (Dang, girl. Grudge-hold much?)
But her announcement was immediately met by the most McConnell of McConnell moves.
His twitter account, known as “Team Mitch,” released an epic video to introduce the real McGrath to the nation. The caption reads, “Welcome to the race, Amy.” I can almost see McConnell smirking as I read it.
But the video is more than a sarcastic, funny attempt at political memes-manship.
It strikes at the core of who McGrath is by replaying her own leftist words.
“I am further left … I am more progressive than anybody in the state of Kentucky,” McGrath said in the opening seconds of the video.
“I think the wall is stupid. I really do,” McGrath said later in the video.
And McConnell was just getting going. He shows McGrath endorsing single-payer universal health care, praising the merits of abortion and bragging on her “progressive” agenda.
But the most damning part of the video is footage of McGrath comparing her feelings toward Trump’s 2016 victory as the same feelings she had when America-hating terrorists killed almost 3,000 and injured 6,000 more on 9/11.
I’m not a Democratic political consultant, but likening Trump’s presidential win to a deadly terrorist attack isn’t exactly the best way to cozy up with the traditional values of the Kentucky heartland.

I don’t know how McGrath’s campaign will end, but it’s not off to a promising start.
