Report: Trump To Use ‘Tremendous Powers’ of Insurrection Act of 1807 To Shut Down Illegals

Thanks in large part to former President Barack Obama’s weak stance and lack of action on immigration reform and border security, the United States is facing an unprecedented and downright frightening influx of illegal aliens.
As a result, President Donald Trump has spent much of his earned political capital on developing a solution to stop what he’s often referred to as a “national emergency” at America’s southern border.
His administration’s latest plan is virtually a nuclear-level strategy that will no doubt have the left in an uproar.
In order to quell this ongoing crisis, Trump plans to invoke the “Insurrection Act of 1807,” multiple senior administration officials told The Daily Caller.
Trump will use the “’tremendous powers’ of the act to remove illegal immigrants from the country,” the outlet reported, citing those officials.
That law allows Trump to utilize the National Guard and U.S. military to quell “unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States” within the country’s borders.
Of course, the move could spark a long list of legal challenges from liberal politicians, especially as election season nears.
The Insurrection Act has been invoked twice in recent history. Former President George H.W. Bush used it in 1992, in the midst of the infamous Los Angeles riots that left part of the city in near ruins.
Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower also invoked the law in 1957 as a tool to help desegregate southern schools.
Specific details on how Trump would use the powers available to him under the act weren’t immediately available.
One administration official told The Daily Caller that Trump may soon announce that the U.S. can’t take in any more illegal immigrants, due no doubt to the recent flood of illegals coming into the U.S.
If the current trends continue, 2019 could see the highest number of illegal immigrants enter the country in 10 years.
“If you take a ship and it holds 1,000 people maximum — one more person and the ship is going to collapse,” the official said. “The country is full.”
“Our hospitals are full, our detention centers are full,” the official added.
If this report isn’t a clear signal that something drastic needs to be done in regard to the deteriorating situation at the southern border, then I don’t know what is.
This information comes on the heels of Trump having unveiled a new legal immigration plan that focuses on encouraging higher-skilled immigrants to come to America on visas.
It’s a merit-based proposal that doubles down on increasing physical border security, with a self-sustaining supply of funding.
Politics aside, there is, in fact, a real crisis on the southern border. Nobody has the perfect solution, but at this point it’s all about taking action.
When a person has cancer, doctors don’t wait for it to spread and then treat it — they proactively take measures to stop it in its tracks.
That’s exactly what it sounds like Trump intends on doing at the border.
