Iowa Congressman Steve King posts red state-blue state civil war meme on Facebook

Republican Iowa Rep. Steve King — no stranger to controversial social media posts — posted a meme on Facebook Saturday, speculating about a potential second civil war in the United States.
Captioned “Wonder who would win….” along with a smirking emoji, the meme shows a red figure whose body is made up of traditionally conservative states like Texas, Alabama and Georgia punching a blue figure whose torso is California and whose head is Oregon.
“Folks keep talking about another civil war,” the meme reads. “One side has about 8 trillion bullets, while the other side doesn’t know which bathroom to use” — a confusing reference to transgender bathroom bills that many states have enacted or reversed.
In June 2018, King said the United States was moving toward a second civil war.
In 2016, King was photographed at his desk which displayed a Confederate flag. Iowa’s 4th District, which King has represented since 2013, falls squarely over territory that was on the Union side in the 1860s conflict.

King has a long and detailed history of making racist remarks that has grown and become more public with his regular posting of memes on social media.
King has also retweeted several open and prominent white nationalists on Twitter in the past year alone.
On Facebook, the reaction to King’s post was decidedly mixed.
“Doesn’t matter which ‘side’ you are on, this is irresponsible for anyone, let alone someone in your position, to post,” one user wrote.
“Look at the s--t, Mad Max post Pelosi,Chuckles, and alot of other liberal democratic leftist terrorist crime syndicate post,” a user replied.
