Suspect reportedly tries to rob Burger King at drive-thru window. Quick-thinking employee won’t let it happen on his watch.

A quick-thinking Burger King employee can be credited for reportedly stopping an 

armed robbery, according to KTRK-TV.

What are the details?

The attempted robbery occurred in Houston in August when a suspect pulled up to 

the drive-thru window as the last customer of the evening.

The employee, Matthew Linscomb, was working the closing shift that evening and 

was stationed at the drive-thru.

Linscomb told KTRK that the suspect's ordering didn't seem to give any indication 

that he would soon try to force his way into the eatery.

"I got a customer in," Linscomb says. "Take the order like any other normal thing."

Except what followed was not the norm at all. The male suspect — who still remains 

at large — pulled up to the drive-thru window and brandished a gun in Linscomb's 

face.

"As soon as I opened the window, I look at the guy and he points the gun right at my

 face," Linscomb says. "He said, 'Get back, step back.'" The man then proceeds to 

crawl through the drive-thru window and into the restaurant, according to video 

surveillance obtained of the incident.

Linscomb refused to follow the suspect's direction, despite the suspect reportedly 

being armed.

"When it was over, my heart was pounding. I thought I was going to drop dead right 

there," he admitted.

In newly released security footage, Linscomb reacts immediately and runs at the 

suspect attempting to crawl through the window.

Despite having a gun in his face, Linscomb shoves the suspect — who appears to get 

stuck inside the window — back out of the restaurant, thwarting his reported plan to 

rob the restaurant.

Linscomb's mother told the station that her son "used to take karate lessons."

"I didn't want to be a victim, so when I saw an opportunity and he was getting stuck, I

 took it," Linscomb added.

The Houston Police Department describes the suspect as a black male, about 20-25 

years old, and between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11.
