David Hogg And Others Raise Nearly $10,000 For Texas Billboard That Will Feature Trump’s Anti-Cruz Tweets

On Saturday, a group called USA Latinx created a GoFundMe page dedicated to raising funds for a billboard or billboards that would display a tweet from President Trump disparaging Sen. Tex Cruz (R-TX).
The GoFundMe, organized by "Antonio Arellano in collaboration with Claude Taylor and David Hogg," states:
President Donald Trump will be campaigning to help Sen. Ted Cruz win his re-election. A rally is being planned, according to Trump "at the biggest stadium in Texas." We are planning to display the presidents own words about Cruz from 2016 on a mobile billboard, to remind Texans of the truth.
This is a joint effort initiated by Antonio Arellano in collaboration with Claude Taylor and David Hogg. The money raised by this account will go towards funding the mobile billboard to maximize visibility and impact. Please consider donating. Every dollar counts. Texans deserve better.
Here’s the tweet that the anti-Cruz campaign allegedly plans to display on the billboard(s):
The tweet was sent during the heat of the early state primaries for the Republican presidential nomination, during which each of the candidates tossed some serious barbs at one another. In the approximately twenty months since Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, he and Sen. Cruz have become more friendly.
Perhaps more to the point, as Trump stated in his tweet regarding the rally, he believes Cruz’s Democratic opponent, Beto O’Rourke, is a poor choice for voters. The Daily Wire reached out to Antonio Arellano for clarification regarding this point, and we had the following exchange:
DW: It's pretty well understood that since taking office, Trump's relationship with Cruz has changed. Moreover, the president likely believes that Beto O'Rourke's political ideology would be worse for the United States and Texas than Cruz's. With that in mind, do you see why some people might view the billboard as disingenuous?
ARELLANO: I don’t particularly agree with how you framed that question. However it is clear that the only reason Trump is endorsing Ted Cruz is because Ted Cruz has been one of the biggest enabler’s of the Trump agenda. Their public display of appreciation and mutual respect is nothing more than political theater. We both know that in private these two men don’t sincerely enjoy each other’s company or agree with each other. Cruz does Texas and the United States a disservice by backing the president to garnish Republican support.
DW: So it's correct to state that Trump's agenda or ideological positions are more closely aligned with Ted Cruz than with Beto O'Rourke, which is why he’d advocate for Cruz’s re-election?
ARELLANO: I think [that] Trump displayed his true colors and shared his most authentic thoughts on Ted Cruz there in the 2016 election. Which is why we are showcasing his tweets on the billboards to make sure that Texans remember the truth.
