A REAL off-roader! Moment 'selfish' Range Rover driver goes WRONG WAY down M6 hard shoulder to avoid busy traffic after multi-vehicle smash

A Range Rover driver has been filmed trying to escape a huge motorway queue by driving the wrong way down the hard shoulder.
The impatient motorist was one of dozens of people stuck after a serious five-car crash - which included one vehicle that was towing a trailer containing live cows - near junction 21A of the M6 in Warrington on Thursday morning.
A lorry driver, who did not want to be named, filmed the driver giving up on the traffic and has called them 'selfish.'
In the clip a white Range Rover can be seen driving up the hard shoulder away from the queuing vehicles.
A white Mercedes and a black car can also be seen trying to get out of the built up traffic in the short video.
The 52-year-old lorry driver from Eccles said he 'couldn't believe what I was seeing' when the drivers started to turn onto the hard shoulder.
He told the Manchester Evening News: 'As a lorry driver you see some stupid things on the roads but this was another level.
'At the time we didn't know what was happening. For all we knew someone could have dead or threatening to jump from a bridge.
'The hard shoulder is there for emergency services. Just before they drove along it I saw some vets being escorted and then an ambulance.'
The HGV driver said he approached the Range Rover and but the people inside couldn't see why they were in the wrong.
He said: 'It's just so selfish and idiotic.
'We were stuck for an hour in the end. It's an hour of your life when someone could be dead or need saving. It beggars belief.'
The Highway Code states you must not stop on the hard shoulder except in an emergency, or when told to do by the police.
Driving the wrong way on a motorway is also an offence.
