James Martin vows to investigate 'truly awful' £9.50 burger served up at his Glasgow airport restaurant after Scottish TV presenter complains (5 Pics)

When ordering a burger that costs nearly £10, diners might expect a substantial side of chips, perhaps a handful of onion rings and a dollop of relish.

So when TV presenter Ewen Cameron had a 'truly awful' cheeseburger served to him at Glasgow Airport's James Martin Kitchen, he took to Twitter to complain.

The host of STV's The Late Show posted a picture of the disappointing meal and wrote: 'Dear James Martin, I'm not one for complaining but I feel you need to see what your name is attached to at Glasgow Airport. This is your cheeseburger at your restaurant and priced at £9.50!

'I'm guessing you'll be annoyed as you're a man who prides himself on his food.'
Celebrity chef Martin responded later on Sunday evening, saying that he would handle the complaint 'personally'.

He wrote: 'Hi Ewen, I have just been made aware of this as I was working. Firstly can I apologise and I can assure you I will deal with it personally.

'Can I ask what time this was today and did you speak to a member of the team about this at the time? I apologise once again, please DM [direct message] me.'

Mr Cameron thanked the host of ITV's Saturday Morning with James Martin for his reply.
He sent a message later in the evening saying: 'I was quick to tweet my complaint to James Martin about a burger at his establishment.

'Well, I just wanted to publicly thank James for the correspondence I've had with him. It was appreciated and shows he cares. Something that isn't always the case in the catering industry.'

The James Martin Kitchen at Glasgow Airport opened in October 2016 following a £25million investment scheme at the terminal.
According to the description of the café, the food is made to chef Martin's 'exact specifications'.

It reads: 'Whether it's a freshly-made sandwich, a nutritious soup or a filling pie, everything is made in-house to James's exact specifications by highly trained chefs.

'And, wherever possible, all the ingredients are locally sourced to ensure freshness and local provenance.'

Mr Cameron later said: 'I don't mind paying the cost if it's worth it. It's £9.50 for a burger. Nothing else comes with it. I guessed this was going to be top notch for the price. Truly awful. I've had better motorway burgers.'
