David Walliams called racist after dressing as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for Halloween - but his fans think it's hilarious

David Walliams' controversial Halloween costume has seen him dubbed a racist by some of his social media followers.
The Little Britain star and Britain's Got Talent judge dressed up at North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as he headed to Jonathan Ross' famous Halloween bash.
And while most of his followers couldn't stop chuckling at his get-up, a couple of people were offended by it and lashed out at him on Instagram.
David, 46, shared a host of selfies on Instagram alongside his celebrity pals, including Alan Carr dressed as a zombie Gemma Collins, Michael McIntyre with an undead look and John Bishop as Uncle Fester.
But one of David's picture, a solo shot of him in his costume, sparked a debate amongst his followers.
"Happy Halloween from Kim Jong-un," he captioned the snap.
While most people thought it was hilarious, a handful of his followers lashed out, calling him a racist.
One said: "If you did not find any problem in here, u are all racists. Wearing yellow face and small eyes? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?? What will you say if someone put black face for Halloween? Bunch of racists. Pathetic"
And another commented: "You could have done without yellowfacing"
Some rushed to defend him, with one saying: "Haha !!! Now. How many people are going to be offended?!......who f**king cares !!! It’s for fun so bore off boring t***s"
While one said: "Only David Williams could get away with this"
Many of his followers were in stitches - as was the lad who spotted him heading to the party. He was captured by photographers pointing and laughing at David.
While one commented: "Brilliant!!!!! The likeness is unreal"
And a lot of fans joked that they initially thought David was dressed as his fellow comedian Michael McIntyre.
But Michael wasn't the only person people compared him to.
"Nice Ant McPartlin costume," one said.
While another said he reminded them of Jamie Oliver.
Mirror Online has contacted David's representatives for comment.
This is the second time in a week that the star caused controversy with a social media snap.
The author and comic appeared to innocently share a picture of himself puckering up to a dolphin in crystal clear waters on his Instagram account.
But angry fans, who pointed out studies have revealed that dolphins find the experience of swimming with people traumatic, said the BGT judge was "cruel" and expressed their disappointment.
A study published in December 2016 also revealed that it makes them less susceptible to danger, putting them at further risk of death when out in the wild.
One fan wrote: "These beautiful creatures are stolen from their home and family, just because some people pay for this cruelty. Really disappointed to see a famous man, who suppport it, instead of show a good role model and reject the exploitation of these animals."
Another added: "Your dream is to swim with imprisoned animals? Hope that makes you feel good about yourself".
Another fan expressed her shock at the snap: "I am so disappointed to see this, I thought better of you and thought you were an animal lover. Presumably you have not seen The Cove or Blackfish, nor can you know about Taiji because, if that’s not the case and you’ve done this in spite of knowing, then you’re not the person I thought you were.
Royal Society Open Science authors wrote recently: "'We found that conditioned animals were more likely to be injured by human interactions when compared with unconditioned animals.
"This is alarming as conditioning could lead to a decrease in survival, which could have population-level consequences."
