Is this the world's feeblest apology? Driver abandons smashed-up VW Golf in city centre with note saying 'So, yeah, I borrowed the car, I'll leave it here for you...love you' (6 Pics)

A SMASHED-up car apparently "borrowed" from a friend was abandoned with a feeble apology note on the windscreen saying: "I'll leave it here for you ...love you xxx."
The red VW Golf with a crumpled bonnet is said to have been ditched after a crash involving three other cars and a post in Manchester city centre.

A handwritten note tucked under the wiper blade reads: "Hi Julia, so, erm, yeah. I borrowed the car.
"I'll leave it here for you. The keys are on the rack. Love you xxx."
The airbags had been activated and the windscreen cracked, but it appears whoever was inside was able to leave the scene.
It is not clear if the note was left by the driver or a joker who spotted the car abandoned in Stevenson Square in Manchester's Northern Quarter, a hub for the city's nightlife.

But the mystery has prompted much speculation after the car remained untouched for two days.
One man who works in a coffee shop nearby said: "There was a crash. I didn't see it but my mate did.
"It happened on Saturday night. There were three cars and the Golf turned and hit a post."
Art supplies store worker Chris, 31, said: "The car was here all Sunday too. Something happened on Saturday night.
"It's a bit funny, isn't it? I don't know who Julia is but it seems like a joyriding incident.
"The police are looking into it now I think."
